Obituary Of Byron White
And people want to be remembered for the kindnesses they showed other people, by and large. What I try to point out is, it’s not how big your bank account balance is, nobody ever puts that in their draft obituary, or that they billed the most hours, or that they won the most cases. It’s how they treated other people along the way. And for me, it’s the words I read yesterday from Increase Sumner’s tombstone. And that means as a person, I’d like to be remembered as a good dad, a good husband, kind and mild in private life, dignified and firm in public life. And I have no illusions that I’ll be remembered for very long. If Byron White is as nearly forgotten as he is now, as he said he would be, I have no illusions, I won’t last five minutes; that’s

To sum everything up, Rosa and Ruby made such a big impact that if they weren't there everything would have been different. Same with Martin Luther King jr. I think personally that they were both very kind and generous. I hope people still look up to those days and don’t make the same…

Once I saw my father almost lose his life for a lady he didn’t know. These are the kind of experiences that make me surprised he lived till this age. As people entered this place today, many walked up to me offering their condolences and mentioning all the various things that my father had done for them. Some said he was a brother to them while others hardly knew him. That’s the charm about my father. You didn’t have to know him before he sacrificed something for you. I used to dislike that side of him as he hardly had time for me. It wasn’t until we came to America that…

Since its founding as the first public school in America, The University of North Carolina has created a rich past dating back to 1789. In honor of its history, UNC also has numerous memorials throughout the campus commemorating those who have helped build and shape the school. Christopher McCandless, though a very kind and caring individual, was also a fool for his various poor choices during his journey. Chris made charitable, and kind decisions, but he also made poor and foolish decisions that lead to his ultimate downfall in the Alaskan bush. Chris’s donation to charity, and general good nature, however should be admired, and if more people thought like that the world would be a much better place. McCandless was a gift to this world whose life was cut short from his own bad decisions, and he should be remembered as both a fool and a role…

Martin Luther King’s achievements and his influence have often been placed on a similar level to such inspirational leaders and figures as Mahatma Gandhi; in America alone he is held to as high a standard as George Washington and Christopher Columbus – the three are the only figures in the US to have national holidays honouring them in modern America’s 500+ years of history. Schoolchildren across the western world grow up learning about the great pacifist, his life, and the difficulties he faced. They are taught that he was arguably the ‘greatest American who ever lived’ . His death shook America and those who deeply related to King; he dared Black Americans to hope and act, and his impact ran so deep that he is considered to be the Civil Rights…

Black has shared some of his most memorable moments, good and bad, with me. The first of his many great experiences was a nerve-wracking one. HIs ship had to go through a minefield and they knew it was a minefield before they even started driving through it. There was a constant thought in the back of their minds that any one of the mines could blow up at any time and everyone on the ship could be seriously hurt or even killed. To add to the stress of all of that, he had to drive part of the time while passing through. Another one of his most memorable moments was when a ship named “The U.S.S. Hornet” was struck by a mine. The mine blasted a giant hole in the ship and the ship was starting to get filled up with water. This was where it was his time to be able to step in and help the situation on his own. He was the leader of this operation in which he had to take one of the ships and his crew and they had to go rescue the people from the ship. After all the people were evacuated from the ship, him and his crew and the crew from that ship repaired the hole and got the ship in good condition again. His third most memorable moment was when there was an earthquake in California and the Bay Bridge collapsed. At this time, people were not able to get across the bridge to go to work or wherever they needed to go. He was in charge of driving the ships back and forth from Oakland to San Francisco. All of this has played a life-changing role in how he lives the rest…

Many people know that February is Black History month; a time of the year where people dedicate a whole month to remember African history and black icons whose ideas and actions have had small to big effects on everyone's lives today. Ranging from athletes, to politicians, to civil rights leaders, some very well-known famous black icons are Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States, and Jackie Robinson, an American Major League baseball player for the Brooklyn Dodgers. But there is one famous celebrity who stands out from the crowd, and his name is Muhammad Ali, one of the greatest boxers of all time. Although Ali is remembered as a great boxer, people should see other accomplishments that he's achieved that have affected a lot of people’s lives. Muhammad Ali should be remembered as an icon who stood up for his religious principles while giving back to the community and being one of the…

For me, the selection to write a paper on Retired Former General Colin Powell was not because he was the first African American Joint Chief of Staff under former President George Bush or the first African American Secretary of State under former President George W. Bush or the first African American to serve as a national advisor for former President Ronald Reagan. I see man that is humbly quite with character; he has an impression resume for a person who grew up during very difficult times for African Americans, even though he was an average directionless young man, but his character is what kept him from veering completely course and not succeeding his own goals.…

Thesis: John Lennon and Julius Caesar worked their entire lives to change the world. Cassius and Mark Chapman are remembered for taking the lives of prominent historical figures as opposed to working hard until they deserved the attention like Lennon and Caesar did. They do not get recognition for what they have accomplished but mostly for what happened to them. They deserve honor for the things that they have done john Lennon changed music forever and Caesar changed the military with his skillful tactics and excellent leadership. Over time they will be nothing but examples of tragic deaths when they really are honorable men.…

    Oklahoma Bombing Tragedy

When tragedy strikes, it is not uncommon for a well revered figure to respond to such an event as common people look up to them for guidance. Robert F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton are no exceptions, while the initial is addressing the sudden assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. and the latter concerning towards The 1995 Oklahoma Bombing, both are responding towards tragic loss and the aftermath that should follow. In their speeches, “A Eulogy For Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” and “Oklahoma Bombing Memorial Address,” Robert F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton enhance their claims by appealing towards an emotional appeal, a logical appeal, and personal connection in order to insist that we must try to get over the loved ones that have passed away and continue their legacy through compassion, not hate, but Kennedy utilizes rational reasons more while Clinton incorporates more moving personally touching words in order to impact their audiences.…

In his forty three years of life, Robert F. Kennedy achieved so much. During his life, RFK gained the trust and respect of the American people, he delivered some of the most famous speeches of all time and gained some of the highest positions that can be possibly attained in the U.S. Senate, including Attorney-General. RFK wrote five books and many other publications on politics and various issues that were confronting his nation and his generation. Another one of RFK’s accomplishments was the founding of the Bedford-Stuyvesant Corporation to rebuild one of New York City’s worst ghettos. In 1963, JFK, Robert Kennedy’s brother and president of the U.S, was assassinated. Determined to continue his brother's vision, Kennedy re-entered public life. In 1964 he ran for the U.S. Senate for New York and won by a margin of more than 700,000 votes. One of RFK’s final achievements during his life was the winning of five presidential primaries, all of which were southern states whose opinions of RFK were famously hateful. RFK would most probably have become the president of the U.S if it wasn’t for his death. However, Robert F. Kennedy didn’t just stop achieving things once he died, but only continued to gain so much more recognition. In 1978 he received posthumously the Gold Medal of Honour, and in the months and years after his death multiple organisations were formed and roads, public schools and other facilities across the U.S. were named in his memory. However, not…
