Nursing Personal Statement Essay

I am a qualified teacher of the Social Sciences including Health and Social Care. I wanted to pursue a career in Nursing as a teenager but choose teaching after working a year as a Pre-trained teacher after sixth Form. My job as a teacher has provided me with numerous transferable skills which I can apply to Nursing. I have several soft skills and attributes for example. I have been described as kind and caring and have been known to show empathy to people who are in need of care. I have an awareness of and a recognition of why I need to comply with policies and procedures relating to protection and safeguarding as well as health and safety. My studies have provided me with an excellent opportunity to explore and critically engage with key issues. I have also undertaken research to enhance my professional development and have kept abreast of national and local developments in Nursing. While I do not have direct paid experience in Nursing, I have had a renewed interest in the profession since caring for my grandmother who has dementia. I also am trainable and have numerous transferrable skills which will allow me to be successful in this course.

I believe I am an excellent candidate for this course because I have successfully completed degree and postgraduate level courses before. In addition, my experience has prepared me for this position. I believe that ‘every child matters’ is not just a slogan, but I believe it encapsulates every teacher's duty to ensure an inclusive environment where the needs of all students are catered to. This I would transfer to Nursing. As a Nurse, I would ensure that 'every patient matter' and would ensure that I empower them to make choices which would improve and maintain their
