Norbert Weiner
Norbert Weiner’s success started early in childhood, and his wartime contributions led him to become not only a noted mathematician but also to develop cybernetics. Norbert Wiener showed a remarkable aptitude for learning from an early age. He contributed to WWI war effort and his efforts in constructing anti-aircraft weaponry led him to explore the principle of feedback and its far reaching effect on controlling various systems. When Weiner was first put into the public school system they had a hard time placing him in any particular grade level. His learning was inconsistent and he was far advanced in some topics whilst being behind in others.

And cybernetics goal is to control systems. Feedback can come from sources in the economy as well as electronics which makes cybernetics stretch far across various fields of study. Cybernetics interprets the way things act in a system and how one could control a system using the individual components within a system.
Today cybernetics has led to prosthetic limbs that are at 20 percent functionality. The prosthetics can sense muscles flexing and use that feedback to control the prosthetic limb. The goal of prosthetics is to use more than physical feedback as a means to send messages to the prosthetic limbs. The goal is to use mental feedback to send messages to the limbs to have 100 percent functionality. This would mimic the way our limbs currently work. We currently lack a method to efficiently communicate with just our brains to the prosthetic pieces. If this barrier could be crossed prosthetics would be able to use the same feedback that we currently use without thinking.
Cybernetics has led to many science fiction stories, games, and movies. Even popular star wars movies show prosthetic legs and arms using feedback to work efficiently with the human body. Popular video games show a future where humans cut off working body parts in favor of stronger more durable cybernetic limbs. While these things seem far away some people feel they could be a reality by 2030.
Cybernetics is sometimes confused with artificial intelligence (AI). AI’s goal is simply to make computers smart and self aware. And cybernetics goal is simply to use information available in a system to control a system. One simple example of cybernetics is a thermostat to control the heating and cooling of the room based on what the temperature is currently
