Approximately 25 percent of all Americans in the United States are vegan. Someone who is vegan does not eat or use any animal products. Eating animal fats and proteins have been shown to raise someone’s chances of developing cancer, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension and heart disease (Norris). Going vegan is an easy and productive way to stay healthy. Although it is more expensive, going vegan is a healthier lifestyle because it eliminates cardiovascular disease, reduces body weight and lowers the risk of getting type 2 diabetes.
Choosing the vegan way of life can also help eliminate cardiovascular disease.
Doctor Dean Onish did a study on a diet with no animal meat or animal based products such as eggs, milks, gelatin, etc. over two decades ago (“Halt Heart Disease”). During the time of the study Ornish found

“After a two year study a cross sectional test showed vegans had a 68 percent less chance of developing type 2 diabetes than people on a non vegan diet” (Norris). This comes from fruits and vegetables having low glycemic levels and high fibers. The study with Korea’s diet and a vegan lifestyle shows that there was a .5 percent greater chance of Korea’s participants getting type 2 diabetes (Norris). Natural resources are all around healthier for the body. Cutting out the fats, gelatin and high glycemic content foods help the body fight off certain things. All vegan studies have been successful in reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes in all genders and ages.
Although it is more expensive, going vegan is a healthier lifestyle because it eliminates cardiovascular disease, reduces body weight and lowers the risk of getting type 2 diabetes. After reading the above information, one can understand how switching to the vegan lifestyle can promote an all around healthier mind, body and soul.
