SAFETY PRECAUTIONS IN USING ELECTRICITY:-

1. Avoid water at all times when working with electricity. Never touch or try repairing any electrical equipment or circuits with wet hands. It increases the conductivity of electric current.
2. Never use equipment with frayed cords, damaged insulation or broken plugs.
3. If you are working on any receptacle at your home then always turn off the mains. It is also a good idea to put up a sign on the service panel so that nobody turns the main switch ON by accident.
4. Electrical hazards include exposed energized parts and unguarded electrical equipment which may become energized unexpectedly. Such equipment always carries warning signs like “Shock Risk”. Always be observant of such signs and follow the safety rules established by the electrical code followed by the country you’re in.
5. Always put a cap on the hot/live wire while working on an electric board or service panel as you could end up short circuiting the bare ends of the live wire with the neutral. The cap insulates the copper ends of the cable thus preventing any kind of shock even if touched mistakenly.

SAFETY BY EARTHING:-
In electricity supply systems, an earthing system or grounding system is circuitry which connects parts of the electric circuit with the ground (electricity), thus defining the electrical potential of the conductors relative to the Earth's conductive surface. The choice of earthing system can affect the safety and electromagnetic compatibility of the power supply. In particular, it affects the magnitude and distribution of short circuit currents through the system, and the effects it creates on equipment and people in the proximity of the circuit. If a fault within an electrical device connects a "hot" (unearthed) supply conductor to an exposed conductive surface, anyone touching it while electrically connected to the earth will complete a circuit back to the earthed supply conductor and receive an electric shock.

Everyone who works with the equipment all has the responsibility to ensure that it is clean and working correctly and if it’s not then this all should be reported and fixed/cleaned before the next use. This is all part of the health and safety law. All electrical equipment must be tested to make sure it is working correctly and not going to cause any damage to anyone which could lead to death if an electrical fault does occur. If you notice that a piece of equipment is faulty or shouldn’t be in practise then this should be removed straight away and inform someone who can do something about it e.g. the maintenance team who will be able to fix the item or replace it. Equipment should be checked…

Through the research I’ve done on global warming it appears to me that there is no problem with it at all, and that there is nothing to worry about. We need to accept that fact that global warming is actually helping the human race in many different ways. For examples the environment is warming up, the ocean levels are rising, and the increase of carbon dioxide are all benefits to the environment and economy. It’s almost as if global warming is turning the earth into a tropical paradise.…

These place a duty on employers to assess all foreseeable risks associated with work activities involving electricity. Employers are required to install safe systems of working, with well-maintained equipment, covering everything from power lines to kettles. All installation and repairs should be undertaken by a qualified electrician or those who have appropriate technical knowledge, though some minor repairs, inspections, fitting of plugs, etc may be undertaken by suitably trained staff.…

When using a power supply, high currents will cause the safety cut-out on the power packs to automatically switch it off. If short lengths of wire are used with relatively high currents and voltages, then significant electrical heating may also occur. Students should be encouraged to adjust the voltage to keep currents small with every set of readings. At each stage they can connect the circuit, take readings quickly and then disconnect the power supply.…

It is ironic that fifty two years before hosting the 1997 United Nations Conference on Climate Change, the city of Kyoto had barely missed being destroyed. It was one of four cities considered as primary targets by President Harry Truman's secretary of war, Henry L. Stimson. The others were Kokura, Hiroshima, and Niigata. Gale E. Christianson describes Kyoto in her book Greenhouse as a magnificent city surpassed only by Tokyo in the number of its institutions of higher learning. Kyoto served as the seat of the emperor for more than 1000 years until the Imperial Household moved to Tokyo in 1868. All Japanese try to visit the city at least once in their lives. The city remains the heart of Japanese culture. Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines dominate the landscape. Japanese theater was founded in Kyoto. It was in this setting that the Nations of the world gathered to discuss the issue of global warming in late November of 1997 (Christianson 254).…

Electricity is good servant but bad master. It can prove to be very dangerous if circuits are not properly protected. The major fault that appears in electrical network or equipment is termed as short circuit. In short circuit, the supply phase and neutral or earth is short circuited accidentally due to foreign metallic substance coming in contact with phase & neutral or earth or due to overload thereby damaging the insulation resulting in short circuit i.e. directly connected resulting in heavy current flow called "short circuit current". This high current heats up the terminations, switches, plugs & cable due to which temperature rises to such a high degree that it is sufficient to generate sparking which further leads to fire.…
