National Junior Honors Society Application Essay

Having the chance to become a member of NJHS isn't something everybody gets, and I am glad I was given the opportunity. Already, I have been helping in a local Girl Scout troop by being an aide and helping planning meetings, as well as being a leader at my churches “Teens with Character” meetings starting soon. I have been to Feed My Starving Children many times in the past, and plan to do it this year as well with friends, as it has always been a fun way to help others that are less fortunate and improve leadership and communication skills. I believe that I would make a good member for NJHS because I enjoy helping others and doing things for the community such as Girl Scouts and religious functions through my church. With a third grade Girl Scout troop, I plan to attend meetings that are every other week and help the girls earn their badges, as well as occasionally plan a lesson and teach them the skills to earn a badge. With my church I am participating in a monthly meeting called “Teens with Character.” I am a part of the core team to help plan and go through with the meetings, which are attended by kids sixth grade through eighth grade. I also have been to Feed my Starving Children many times before, and enjoy going because I help others and have fun. I should be chosen to be a member of NJHS because I have many activities for service and to boost my leadership and communication skills, and I enjoy doing every single one of them. I also try to keep my grades up to all A's, and my goal for the 2013/2014 school year was to get all A's every quarter. I have always pushed myself to get good grades, and I always have gotten good grades. I think I should be chosen because I enjoy helping others, working with others, and achieving goals I make for myself. If I make it into NJHS, I would make sure I keep my grades up and work on anything I need for my extra-curricular activities I attend from Girl Scouts to

I’d be able to take on more responsibilities in the school and community as well as helping my fellow students in their endeavours. I would be in a position where I’d be more readily able to use my leadership skill in helping others, and guiding them to obtain a better control over their surroundings. If I were to be invited to become a member of the NHS, I’d desire to be influenced by the best the school has to offer and hopefully make my mark on others lives as the one who is dependable, trustworthy and above all else willing to do anything to brighten another's’ day. In summation, being a part of the National Honor Society would better my life in innumerable ways while I aim to do the same for others around…

As the Hispanic that I am, I am considered part of a large minority. A minority that at times believes that we cannot be as succesful as other ethnic groups. That is because as a person who lives in south Texas, we don't always have the resources and economic stability that is at times required if we wish to succeed. Some of us also believe that we don't always have equal opportunities to thrive in succes as well as others, myself included. NHI proves me and any other Hispanic that thinks alike- wrong. NHI is an outstanding opportunity to learn about myself and discover what it really is that I wish to pursue later in life.…

All throughout school I have participated in many clubs and organizations that have not only molded me as a person, but have helped me to develop responsibility, and leadership skills. Currently I am an active member of National Honor Society, and DECA. Both of these organizations, provided by my high school, encourage leadership, volunteer work, and have high expectations for behavior, and grades. Being in National Honor Society has shown me to continually do for others in need. There are always opportunities to get involved with the community, and even create drives for things like stuffed animals, and blankets for children who are sick in the hospital, and “Care Catties” for cancer patients, which include tissues, water bottles, hard candy, and lotion. DECA is another organization I am involved in at Frenship High School. DECA is a business organization for high school marketing students looking to learn, develop and compete in a competitive event. I have been a member since my sophomore…
