The variety of factors is important for understanding the impact an orthoses has on a young person’s life and the different ways to improve this. These factors also play a vital role in informing the efficient design and fabrication of the orthoses.
This range of complex factors for a young person may differ or overlap the parameters and expectations of healthcare professionals and wider NHS organisation. Figure 5.2 demonstrates the varying components that could affect the adoption of technology or medical devices.
The various methods demonstrated in the literature to support medical device and assistive technology development stem from the diverse range of legislation and huge variance in the devices themselves.
