Nha Trang City
-------------------------------------------------
Nha Trang
Asia : Southeast Asia : Vietnam : Central Highlands : Nha Trang
Nha Trang is Vietnam’s most famous seaside resort-town. It's more lively and urban in character than other beach destinations like Mui Ne and Phu Quoc. It's also the scuba diving center of Vietnam.
Traces of human settlement in Nha Trang date back to the Cham Empire, though in times of Vietnamese rule, there wasn’t much more than small fishing villages. The French recognized that this beautiful bay, with its islands and white sand beaches, made for a perfect bathing spot, and began the transformation into a resort town. American soldiers agreed, and Nha Trang became a favorite vacation stop during the war.
The monsoon season is from October to mid December. Sea winds can be heavy, and sometimes the weather can get pretty chilly. Summer, naturally, brings many vacation goers into town and hotel rooms get somewhat more difficult to find.
Warning: especially for men, Nha Trang can be a bit hard on those that consume too much alcohol and frequent the late night bars. Most of the city shuts down by 10 pm and all the opportunists and thieves will go where the tourist money is, fed by travel guides. Men should be wary of the common tactic of beautiful women rubbing up against you relieving you of your possessions.
Nha Trang by night: Warnings Confirmed: Having spent several months, in early 2012, in Nha Trang, I can confirm, that by night, late night pick pockets are waiting for tourists- especially inebriated men. The motorbike taxi, is a genuine problem. From experience, they will occasionally try to sell you women. A simple taxi ride can turn into a problem. At night if you are intoxicated, some will purposely drop you off near a larger group of other motorbike taxi drivers, and then, ask for a much higher fare: any sign of resistance by you, the customer, can turn ugly fast. Strangely enough, having spent two months in Nha Trang, I

One of my favorite things about New York is that the subway never stops running. If you’re out on the town late at night, you don’t need to worry, because the city’s cheap, reliable, and extensive transit network functions 24 hours a day. (The trains do come in less frequent intervals at night, though, so grab yourself a hot dog and be patient!) Whether you’re catching a concert on one of the city’s many waterfronts, laughing your face off at the Comedy Cellar, dancing in your seat at a Broadway show, or reveling at one of the city’s great watering holes, New York by night has something for everyone.…

    Phnom Penh

I was born in Kampong Cham Province and I have moved to live in Phnom Penh since I finished my high school. When I first came here in Phnom Penh, I felt very surprise and scare. The building and people were far different from my hometown. I got around Phnom Penh by motorbike for a first few days. I saw many high rise buildings; especially the city's French colonial buildings were beautiful. I saw some different kind of transportation that running on the road such as: modern car, Motorbikes, Motorbike-taxis (motodops), Taxis were available at a few locations, Tuk-tuks, and Cyclos. There transportations were in the great amount if compared to my province and it sometimes caused a very serious traffic jam and accidents. I also went to the Royal Palace which no photography was allowed inside the Silver Pagoda and some of the Palace buildings. You were expected to dress decently (no bare legs or shoulders). Beside this, I went to Wat Phnom. I liked the park there. It was a pleasant green space and a popular gathering place for locals. A few monkeys kept quarters there as well and will helped themselves to any drinks you leave unattended. After that I went to Independence and Liberation memorials. Impressive Buddhist-style Independence Memorial, commemorating the departure of the French in 1953, dominated the centre of the city. Nearby was the very ugly Stalin-style Liberation Memorial, marking the Vietnamese capture of the city in 1979. The area was especially popular on weekend nights with locals when the multi-colored fountains were activated and communal music was played. I took several pictures there and got some rest. I also went to Sorya shopping center which located at the south of the Central Market. It's on a North-South Street on the west side. It is currently Phnom Penh's main Western-style mall. It is air-conditioned and contains a range of cheap fast-food outlets as well as a well-stocked supermarket named Lucky Supermarket. You can do…

    Hutong Tourism Case Study

It provides opportunities for tourists from all over the world to view the vernacular houses and move around hutongs, from which tourists can experience the local customs, lifestyle and culture (Wang,1997). Remarkably, local cultural identity can be communicated to visitors through the tour (Wang,1997). Despite the fact that the rights and privacy of the residents may be invaded and tourism will probably increase ‘social interactions’, tourism can not only protect hutongs and courtyards, but also bring economic benefits for the city and create jobs to ease employment pressure (Ryan et al.,2013). In addition, hutong tourism combines urban modernization and heritage preservation appropriately, promoting plenty of good quality restaurants while maintaining the local cultural values. (Ryan et al.,2013). With the advanced facilities and new heat pump systems, the quality of life of local residents can also be…

There are many beaches in Vietnam, but I only have been to Nha Trang and Vung Tau, which are two famous beaches in my country. Even though both of them are wonderful places where people can relax on vacation, I prefer Nha Trang for three reasons. First of all, the sea view in Nha Trang is more beautiful. While Nha Trang has a blue sea, white sand, and a long range of coconut trees along the beaches, there are gray sea, yellow sand, and many rocks near by the beaches in Vung Tau. Furthermore, there are many small islands where there are many interesting things to discover nearby Nha Trang. Secondly, the food in Nha Trang is delicious. People can try many specialties of Nha Trang. There is also a lot of fresh seafood like squid, lobster, crabs, and clams. In contrast, there is no specialty in Vung Tau although it also has many kinds of seafood. In addition, eating in Nha Trang is less expensive than in Vung Tau. Finally, the atmosphere in Nha Trang is better than in Vung Tau. There is a place where people get oil from the sea, so the atmosphere in Vung Tau is more humid and drier, while in Nha Trang, the atmosphere is purer and less humid. Moreover, the distance from my city to Vung Tau is shorter, so it is a place that many people choose for their short vacation like on a weekend. In contrast, Nha Trang is in the middle part of the county, so people cannot go there in a short time. In brief, there are many differences and similarities between the two beaches, but I still prefer Nha Trang because of the sea view, the food specialties, and the atmosphere.…
