The Case Study for this week is "The Forgotten Group Member," which appears on page W--112 of the course text.
Each student is required to analyze this week’s case study and submit a 2–3 page paper addressing the key questions identified below. Remember that all case studies present both too much and too little information. There may be information presented that is not really relevant, and there may be scant information about a key area. This analysis does require interpretation of the information and there is not “one” right answer. However, you must explain and defend any assumptions you made and\or conclusions resulting from your analysis with citations from the text or from the case itself. There is no need to research outside sources for this paper.

Your paper MUST include the following labeled sections: Category | Points | Description | Part I: Group Development | 15 | Identify and summarize the stages of group development.

Reflecting on the case and textbook material, what stage is the group at now? How could an understanding of the stages of group development have assisted Christine in her leadership role with this team?

Support your conclusion with evidence from the case and our text. | Part II: Problem Identification | 30 | Identify key problems.

Identify primary and secondary problems the group and/or Christine are facing. Identify what Christine should have understood about individual membership in teams in order to have built group processes that were supportive of her workgroup’s performance.

    During the weeks that the group was together for this class project, Christine was aware of the distancing of Mike from the rest of the group. Each week provided different cases of this distancing, from Mike being unable to meet with the group due to other commitments, to his reaction to not joining the group when he saw them all together. If Christine had known the stages of group development, she would have realized that the team was at the passed the norming stage, and that Mike was still behind. He was unable to build relationships or work together with the team.     Christine failed to find a way to bring the team together, ensuring that they trusted each other and had the ability to develop a working relationship. In the case, it was mentioned that there was some group meeting scheduling conflicts. Christine tried to arrange a time that suited everyone’s needs but could not do so because Mike’s work schedule. There was a missed opportunity for Christine to elect a virtual communication network in additional to face to fact meetings. The virtual communication network would’ve linked the team members through an electronic communication with one another as well as with a central data base. This is specifically important in team role assignment because certain team members may have more weight on finishing an assignment. This could be implemented by making sure that team meetings were flexible enough so that every member could attend. If this could not be achieved, a virtual style of communication would be just as effective as a face to face communication style. One way to do that is to have individual meetings with the group. Since team member do not share the same schedules, individual meetings allow a leader to connect with each member and build a stronger team, one person at a time. We never even try to trigger up our mind to think regarding their maintenance so that we can use the produce of these priceless heritages of god persistently. We don’t think it even worth our bit attention. Though, a kind of fascination happens to occur in our mind about the immense diversity of plant life but we never bother about protecting this diversity. However, when these plants are happened to grow in the garden in a so-called scientific manner, we surely like it, appraise it and also agreed very easily to protect its beauty just because it’s man-made and also maintained by them.
