The New Freedom by Woodrow Wilson

December 28, 1856 Thomas Woodrow Wilson was born. He passed away on February 3, 1924. Woodrow Wilson was the twenty-eighth president. People looked at him as a leader of the progressive movement. Woodrow Wilson wrote this in the 1912 for the presidential campaign. He received a PhD in history and political science from Johns Hopkins University. This selection was written in 1912 for the upcoming presidential campaign against Progressive Party candidate Theodore Roosevelt and Republican candidate William Howard Taft.

Woodrow Wilson got to his conclusion because he feels that the basic American will be one of the people who run this country. The major turning point in this passage to me was when he told a story about lecturing to a group of boys who came from a very wealthy background and he told them that are doomed to obscurity and will not do anything and when things need to be done for this country you will all turn it down and the basic man who understands the people and understands this country will raise to the top and take care of the problem. I couldn’t find any inaccuracies in the selection because I am on the same side as the author. To me, the most convincing part was when he gave the lecture to the rich school boys because he was telling them the truth.

The author is bias toward the working man who understands the people and politics and America. But the author is also biased against the rich men and children who will do nothing good for this country. The authors biased is offered by him constantly referring to how the ordinary man will make the biggest changes for this country and how the rich men won’t do a thing except for rule out bills that we need. This influences Woodrow Wilson’s work because he is for the basic man and against the rich men because he always refers back to it. Wilson’s ideologies are very wide.
