Company Introduction
NetApp, in the past called Network Appliance, Inc., is a company founded 24 years ago in 1992 by David Hitz, James Lau and Michael Malcolm headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, USA, which has over 12.000 employees worldwide and 150 offices around the world. NetApp is one of the companies that work on providing computer storage and data management solutions to make things easier for their customers. (NetApp, 2016)
NetApp storage systems are hardware and software based data storage and retrieval systems. These systems respond to network requests from clients by writing or retrieving data from disk arrays.

NetApp believes that security and privacy are important aspects to focus on when cloud is coming into discussion, as Kim states "it`s not about storing or containing, it`s about what ability, what agility do I have and what can I do with my data…So it might be so that I find it very attractive to move my data to offshore or a cloud solution by Amazon…would I then be able to move it back without constraints?"
