May we dig a trench across the city street shown in this lab?

The guidelines stat that a trench may be dug as long as it is greater than 60 days since the street was completed and there are no utility conflicts.

Who issues the permit for this work?

The Department of Engineering Services issues permits.

Must we submit construction plans to the city?

Two sets of plans must be submitted with the Public Right-of-Way constructionPermit Application. These will be forwarded to the City.

4. Once the permit is issued, how long must we wait before commencing work?

Work may begin immediately but must begin no later than 90 days after the permit is issued.

5. How deep must the cable be buried?

In the Facility Spacing Requirements, the listed minimum depth is 42 inches under the pavement.

6. What are the exact detailed compaction requirements as listed in the manual provided by the city for restoration of any surface that is trenched?

Restoration guidelines state the backfill material can be native material from the excavation as long as it is compacted to no more than 8 inches and 95% Standard Proctor Density

7. Is the company we hire to do the work required to be registered in any way?

Any public service provider used must be a Certified Telecommunications Provider or have a franchise or license agreement with the city or be permitted by State law.
