Narrative Essay: The Legend Of The Lumberjack

In a certain place there lived a lumberjack by the name of Manny. He lived in a small shack outside of a small town named Bushel Neck. One day, while walking in the town square, the wooden pieces of his wagon broke. He took an ax, and set forth to find some wood. He found a large pine tree at the ocean's shore, and said aloud, "Now this is a large tree. If I chop it, I will have wood enough to rebuild my wagon ten times better and still have enough to sell and build a new home." Having thought it through, he raised his ax to begin cutting. However, a spirit lived in this tree, and he said, "HEY! This tree is my home, and it must be kept from being cut down in any way, because I like it here where my I can be tucked in by the cool breezes that blow in from the ocean's waves during the long nights." The lumberjack was really disappointed because this was the only tree with enough wood for miles. “ Please spirit, I would really love to have this wonderful tree inorder to fix my wagon and build a new home,” said the lumberjack. The spirit had magical powers that allowed him to give the lumberjack three wishes. He then told the lumberjack, “ I will grant you three wishes if you promise not to cut down my tree.” The lumberjack obviously took the offer and asked the spirit for his first wish.
The lumberjack went home to see a brand new wagon with metal wheels and a large bed to store a lot of wood. His little shack was no longer there but in place of it was the largest mansion in the town. The lumberjack was overwhelmed and surprised that the spirit actually did what he wished.
