In 1829, Richmond County acquired ninety-one acres of farmland in the heart of Staten Island. Newer construction of the Farm Colony started in 1904, and the Seaview hospital was designed by Architect Raymond F. Almirall (Sphered 156). The piece of farm land was purchased from Stephen Martino ("NYC Farm Colony & Seaview Hospital”). A year later, they reopened it with the name Richmond County Poor Farm, and its placement was on the west side of Brielle Avenue.
