My Wallet
“My Wallet”
By: Justin Anthony

English Comp. 1
Narrative Point: Think before you act.

A wallet, or purse for some, is a precious item in which most people carry things more essential than money towards everyday life. If some people were to lose that portable safe, they may be offset for the rest of that day. The person without that wallet could be cranky or depressed for a while. Maybe something of great sentimental value was in that wallet. This person could keep these feelings for a long time, until they find their belongings by which case they are filled with joy. I, personally, keep anything I may have interest in knowing where it is, in my wallet. I am very good about always having my wallet and never losing it...until recently.
In my wallet, I store dire personal items such as my license and some pictures. Among other things, I have my money, like everybody else, and certificates for stores. This summer, I went to Beech Lake with my friends. I drove down there with my wallet and took it everywhere with me, like I would any other time. Well, when someone doesn't have pockets, then it is hard to keep their wallet right next to them at all times. I picked up my wallet from the bench next to the lake, along with my keys, and set both on top of the car. When I figured out that I needed the keys in order to get in the car and turn it on, I took them off the top of the roof, leaving my wallet behind. I sat in the car, car door open, waiting for my friend to make it to the car so we could all go home. Once he made it to the car, without thinking, I closed the door and started the car. I had been driving about forty-five minutes before I realized that my wallet was no longer on my body. Immediately, I pulled the car over, and the next hour or so was spent looking for my wallet.

All I could think about was what I would lose if I didn't find my wallet. My birthday was the week before, and I was given $50 to Best Buy and $50 to Hot Topic. Aside from that I

I knew I needed to figure out what happened and do it fast. I quickly felt my pockets to find my wallet barely intact held by a thread. Salt water felt into my eyes and I went to wipe it away only to see it was blood from a three inch gash on my eyebrow. I looked under a tarp in the dingy and found a wooden box with orange floats attached to it. The latch was corroded from the sea water but it opened up. In the box there were 3 small plastic waterproof containers. On the…

Her musical style arose from a fusion of gospel and pop songs with classical music, in particular with influences from her first inspiration, Johann Sebastian Bach, and accompanied with her expressive jazz-like singing in her characteristic contralto. She injected as much of her classical background into her music as possible to give it more depth and quality, as she felt that pop music was inferior to classical. Her intuitive grasp on the audience-performer relationship was gained from a unique background of playing piano accompaniment for church revivals and sermons regularly from the early age of six years old.…

I am a very forgetful person. I can lose things within minutes and have absolutely no idea as to where it is. Consequently, being that person can be very tough because no one really trust you with their belongings, you lose everything and it becomes very frustrating, etc. So it is very of the norm for me to causally misplace my phone. One day while leaving the mall after a day of handing out with friends I realized I misplaced my phone. I didn’t really give it much thought because this is a normal habit for me. However, it wasn’t until I got home that I realized, “I really don’t have my phone.” I went straight into panic mode because I realized that it could be anywhere, with anyone. After about forty-five minutes of crying and searching,…

From a young age, money has never been #1 on my list of lifetime goals and priorities. At the age of 8, value of a certain money became very treasured. In that year, my great-grandpa, a veteran of WW2, learned of his cancer. He also gifted me 7 freshly minted, (and in numerical order on the serial number), one dollars bills. You might say,” A measly $7?”, but that was the last gift I was allowed to receive from him. While not valuable monetarily, it was a gift that I view as special. When some of the drawers possessions that are precious to you, it is because someone who found significant sentimental value in said item gifted it, and those gifts are truly the ones to be treasured.…

Stereotyping and categorizing individuals is one of humanities’ greatest flaws. The concept of putting someone into a margin because of your own personal assessment of who they are should not be a norm. I, as a Muslim woman, am constantly categorized by the West into a group constantly affiliated with terrorists. Because of my personal beliefs people see it fit to cast me into a shallow margin. Because there are terrible people who’ve done horrendous things and choose to declare themselves as Muslims does not mean every other Muslim in the world is just like them. It is not fair for me to have to explain to the world that Islam is a religion of peace after an attack claimed by some disgusting group.…

I carry it with me always to keep in contact with everyone I know. My phone also serves as a multi-purpose fun machine. I get to play silly games when I’m bored, watch movies I put on my phone. Fight Club, mostly. Every night I make sure to charge my phone. A day without my phone is worse than it should be, but most people depend on their phone. So it doesn’t bother me.…
