My Rhetorical Modes

Rhetorical, as defined by Merriam-Webster, is “Of, relating to, or concerned with the art of speaking or writing formally and effectively especially as a way to persuade or influence people.” The definition is an accurate one and explains what it is often used for: to persuade or influence another. When I first learned rhetoric, I associated the technique with three Rhetorical modes. These were Logos, an appeal to logic, Ethos, an appeal to ethics and lastly, Pathos which is an appeal to emotions. From what I first learned (and have continued to learn), an effective argument should include all of the three.
