My Perfect Thanksgiving
The mouth watering smell of homemade thanksgiving dinner fills the air. From every room in the house you can smell the sensational delicious thanksgiving aroma. When its time for dinner, the shuffling footsteps of my entire family can be heard miles from the house. As we all gathered around the rectangular table covered in a cream cloth, a sudden warm feeling is felt. Although there were a lot of candles lit, it was each others faces that light the dining room. In the centre of the table is the large turkey. Surrounding the turkey were other diverse dishes. There was several mountains of potatoes, fluffy marshmallow/sweet potatoes. The pale coloured mountains of rich, creamy deliciousness is next to the boiling gravy. There was also stuffing. The dish had various foods including chopped meat, vegetables and a variety of spices. The amazing dinner was followed by an ever more yummy desert. The brownies are always the best. The brown, baked batches have a hard chocolate shell on the outside and an overflow of chocolate in the inside. When a bite is taken from it a waterfall of chocolate oozes into your mouth. But the true superstar of deserts is my aunts fresh from the oven apple pie. The thick and crunchy bread, guards the sweet cinnamon syrup and apple custards on the inside. This thanksgiving dinner was surly a memorable one. The food was not the best part though. The best part was sharing not only delicious dinner but the whole night with the loving and good cooking family.

“Let the Christmas feast begin!” Everyone clambered over to the large table, long enough to fit fifteen full grown adults on each side. With their heads bowed down and hands pressed together, the family thanked God for their meal and began heaping the abundance of varying foods onto the delicate china plates provided by the Brown’s.…

Food provokes lively, warm, jovial feelings for me; this is especially true during the holidays. Baked goods still sparks my olfactory sense and makes me reminisce of Christmas. When I recall these memories I am at my grandmother’s house as a young child. It starts when the oven door opens, vapors of brown sugar waft through the kitchen and the caramelized, buttery aroma with lingering scents of cinnamon. For me, these memories fill me with joy and always evoke a grin. This feeling are even stronger when I recall, in particular, baguettes. My interest in bread became irrepressible at the beginning of my cooking career, and developed into a obsessive urge to create perfection the more I focused on it.…

I could see the intricate designs of grapevines that had been masterfully carved into the light oak posts that held the entryway above my head. Through a miniature window on the far side of the room, I could get a slight glance of the steaming pasta noodles that had been drenched in luscious red spaghetti sauce, before the waitress guided us to our seats. I could feel anticipation building up as the waitress guided us to one of the most well placed tables in the whole restaurant. The light brown, cloth drapes that rested against the smooth brick wall of the restaurant grazed my arm as I passed under one of the exits outside. As soon as the fresh air whipped my face, the noticeable scent of fresh chocolate mousse cake assaulted my nose. I could feel the soft, plush cushioning that rested underneath my backside as I sat down to great relief. My eyes scanned my surroundings, taking in all the sights and smells that I could contain within myself without being overwhelmed. Of all the places to be right then, Charleston was the one. I had experienced the smell of chocolate, the taste of lasagna, the sound of the ocean, the sight of warm, crisp sand, and the feeling of being happy and glad for what I…

I walked into the kitchen and spotted a turkey and prime rib, chicken, smoked ham, macaroni and cheese, corn on the cob, candy yams, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and greens. The delightful scents of turkey and prime rib, cheese, buttered corn, sweet yams, and gravy filled the air. I hear a timer go off, an oven opening, a microwave beeping, barbeques grilling, and family talking. I taste all sorts of things such as turkey and prime rib, macaroni and cheese, corn on the cob, candy yams, mashed potatoes, and greens. I touch my fork and spoon, the glass full of water, my napkin, my plate, and my food. I sight, smell, hear, taste, and touch many things during my Thanksgiving dinner.…

Thanksgiving is the one holiday in which the meal takes six weeks to plan, three days to cook and five minutes and 30 seconds to eat so everyone can watch 10-hours of football. Thanksgiving Tradition

Tradition is something I have seen die out through my life. As I have gotten older, traditions have become less important. I believe this is one of the biggest problems in our society today, and I think this has direct correlation with our weakening morals. The most important tradition still in my life is probably Thanksgiving dinner. Every year Thanksgiving is held at my grandparent's house and we eat the same food every time. The same family members are always there and there are always beautiful decorations placed around the house. This tradition fits Glassie's definition because this is a part of history for my family and I, and how we celebrate Thanksgiving now shapes how we will celebrate is in the future. Our family's culture is shaped…

The best part of the day had arrived, dinner. We had a reservation at the pier in which we were going to eat dinner. We looked like a whole bunch of bees ready to attack. The food was there. Right in front of our noses. We could feel the presence of the warmth coming from the food. The smell was just making our mouths water and our tummies rumble. We looked at each other with such eagerness to have some of those explicit desserts in our mouths. There we were, with our food served and ready to attack. I knew that when I was done with this food there was no longer going to be any space for the dessert. Overall the food was amazing and the experience as well.…

Grandma Calls out “Dinners ready” and before you know it the dinner table is engulfed with all my siblings and of course papa. We all sit eager as ever, anticipating thinking and imagining how good the turkey is going to be this year. Everyone’s engaged in one another, talking joking and laughing around the table. It’s about as good as any Thanksgiving dinner can get, but as soon as grandma cracks open the oven the aroma of the freshly seasoned and cooked turkey floods the kitchen. It’s as silent as the nights whistle. She brings the comestible around with the help of Uncle Richard, as grandma is getting far too fragile and weak to do anything on her own anymore. We as family agreed her cooking skills are far too superior a thing to allow to go to waste. So whenever the opportunity arises, one of us is always helping grandma. Uncle Richard proceeds to slice the turkey ever so graciously making everyone at table froth at the…

When I was five years old girl, I was often envious of my mother and grandmother cooking together for the Jewish holidays. I was too young to understand the dangers of the oven and the stove, so year after year I was frustrated that I was excluded from the meal preparation. After a few seasons of whining and complaining, my grandma decided to humor me. For the big feast on the first night of Rosh HaShanah, she enlisted my help. She chose an interesting dish my five year old self could actually help make: meatloaf mashed potato cupcakes. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed helping my grandma make them and for a few years it was somewhat of a holiday ritual. I would…

    My most perfect day

My most perfect day would be on a brisk December morning, as the new sunlight filtered weakly through storm glass, my bare feet would touch the frigid hard wood floor for a second before finding my fluffy white slippers. I would walk through a long, dark hallway-complete with creepy photographs and a red Oriental hall rug-and a winding wooden staircase before reaching a black-and-white kitchen. In the kitchen, I would prepare myself a delicious hot mug of tea and pop some bread in the toaster. Blackberry preserves, of course, would be quickly retrieved from a state-of-the-art refrigerator.…
