My most embarrassing and frightening experience!
Have you ever wanted something so badly that you would do anything to get it? Whether it was that special someone you have had your eyes on for a while or that new sixty inch plasma TV you saw in the electronics store. Often people go through drastic measures to get these things. They lie. They steal. They even go so far as murder. I know because I was once like those people. I wanted something so badly that I chose to do the only thing I thought I could do to get it. I stole it. It was the most frightening and embarrassing experience I have ever had. It was late afternoon, around six o'clock, when my parents and I left for the grocery store. I was use to this because lately it had become a weekly routine. The week before, I saw something in the grocery store that had really caught my eye. It was an aisle filled with candies. Lollipops, Skittles, Hershey Kisses, and Bubble Gum, you name it, they had it. It was everything a child could ever ask for. From that day on, I knew I had to have them.

Next week flew by so quickly and I found myself in the aisle again looking at the never ending piles of candy. I left mommy and daddy in the meat section and I headed for the mountain of sweets. The meat section was so boring. Who wouldn't pick an aisle filled with candies over raw dead meat? Inside the grocery store, music played softly as people pushed metal carts around the store constantly picking groceries off the shelves. It was like I was surrounded by a bunch of programmed robots. I felt different from everyone else. I felt I had something to do tonight. This week I brought a bag along with me because something inside of me told me that I would be need to use it. As I stood there staring, contemplating, wondering what I should do, two voices inside of me were arguing. One voice was telling me to take the candy and the other was telling me not to. Unfortunately, one of the voices had to win so I opened up my bag and started stuffing mounds of candy into it until it

When I was younger, I always wanted a Barbie dollhouse. The Barbie dollhouse was expensive and at least worth a hundred dollars. For my birthday, my parents decided to give me that very Barbie dollhouse. Of course, I was happy but I was only happy for a quick minute and before I knew it, I didn’t know what item I wanted next. This is a situation that many people this day in age face, where they receive something and they don’t know what to do. But, these possessions also have a negative impact on people.…

The test was today! Why did I waste an entire day playing that dumb game? I thought, feeling upset. Forgetting you had a test the next day was awful, but realizing you never studied, and it's all of your fault, made me feel paralyzed. Spending an entire day glued to my phone? This wasn't like me! I felt guilty and nervous throughout my whole body because I knew today wasn’t going to end well. With dark circles under my eyes from staying up all night on my phone, I tried not to feel exhaustion that was consuming me, hoping for the best as I left for school during that bright early morning. On the bus, I tried to cram as many facts as I could in my brain, but nothing was familiar; I knew nothing. The only thing I knew on the test was how to write my name, and the grade I was going to receive on it: a failing one. When I got to school after a terrible bus ride, any trace of false hope disappeared from my mind, and as I walked into my class, I had already felt defeated. After taking my test, I didn’t want to think about it a second more than I had to, I just wanted to relax by playing Candy Crush on my…

My brother and I continued to sprint through the dark, damp streets. Puddles splashed under our feet making eerie echoes. We passed closed shops and empty parking lots. It seemed like I wouldn’t even have nightmares as creepy as what I was walking through. It was darker than usual. A unearthly feeling was in the air. No one was around, which was normal because it was almost midnight, but it felt different. “Maybe I’m just in a bad mood,” I whispered to myself. School had proved to be a tragedy yet again. I just couldn’t get my mind off Ella. I didn’t even like going near the woods ever since… “Come on, we’re going to be late!” my brother interrupted. I had no idea those would be the last words my brother ever said.…

With excitement in her voice, my mom shuffled with her long high heels to get the caramel custard. As the bags under my eyes hung down like rain falling from the sky, getting ready for an event was the least of my priorities. I decided to take a walk before the gathering. The 80-degree weather let the greens flow, the swift breeze smacking the post that read the park’s closing time. The same voice that was in my head earlier came in a shadow, but quite literally. Rushing winds from the sandbox came at my face, blowing the swings backward. The shadow came up to me in disfigurement. Turning back and forth, diagonal and sideways, it said what I was thinking at that moment, but I didn’t realize it.…

I had never been out of the nest. Mother had always warned us that it was dangerous in the outside world. But my curiosity grew and I thought to myself, " Since I am already out of the nest and it wasn't my fault that I got pushed out of the nest, I might as well have a look around before I go back ". I took a few brave steps away from my nest...then a few more...and before long, my home was out of sight and I found myself in the real world. I caught the fresh sense of the grass under my little feet. They felt soft and cozy, like a field of soft fur being planted onto the ground. As I walked a few steps more, I inhaled the sweet sense of flowers blooming in the garden. I had never smelled anything like it. My stomach started to growl and I knew I was hungry. I crawled down the road in search of food. There I found something that looked like an acorn. As I bit into it, it was hard and would not break. When I looked at it again, I realized I was biting into a brown rock. I threw the rock away and continued my journey, where I was determined to find food. A strong wind came blowing down the street, as I dig my claw into the earth to hold on to the ground. The earth was soft from last night's rain and a bit muddy too. I looked up at a tree that looked like a giant to me. I am not used to staring at a tree from its feet, since I'm always on top of it. A leaf floated down from the tree and landed on top of me. The leaf was huge compare to my small baby body. As I looked back down the road, I saw a large hole on the edge of the street. It looked like a tunnel, leading to a…

I woke up this morning to the sound of my alarm clock, charming like church bells when it strikes noon. I open my eyes; it’s bright from the early morning sun gleaming through the cracks of my blinds, bouncing off the four walls. As I lay in my bed thinking about today’s chores, they run through my head like a batter just hitting a home run. I finally motivate myself enough to walk down a flight of stairs that feels like a lifetime to go down. A silence breaks through the dusty air that I feel is choking me with every breath I take. No one is home, I’m all alone.…

Midnight, 14 June 2012. I was awake in my bed, excited or maybe depressed. I did not know. The night seemed weird, because it was much darker than before and I heard the owls hoot louder. They seemed hungry. Hungry for meat and for love. Every time I closed my eyes, I would see a thin light pass by and I opened it at my highest to identify what it was. I missed it each time. What was it? When sunrise grew closer, I heard weird thuds that pierced my ear deeply. What on earth was it? Was it somebody playing the flute? Was it someone under my bed? Was there anybody present in my room? I didn’t know. I stayed paralyzed in my bed. Still in fright. My eyes wide open, despite my weariness. I was excited for tomorrow because it was my birthday and that the day would be rather hectic. Maybe I was too excited that I became a subject to the things around me. Still, there was more terror within me. What did they show? Suddenly, I fell into a restless sleep.…

Have you ever had the experience that you mistook somebody for someone you knew in the public? When you were shopping, hanging around, or just standing in somewhere, suddenly, you saw a familiar back of someone. So you decided to step forward to pat on that person's shoulder to surprise him or her. However, the person whoever you thought he or she was wasn't the one you thought. Winds flew in every direction. With a tremendous wrath, with a sounding of voices creeping through my window as they embraced me in my sleep. Giving me the shivers to run through my spine. Waking me up! From such a sweet, sweet! Dream. It was a cold and terrifying day as I dressed myself with that old blue jacket of mine, frightened in panic and stress. For my first day of school for the cold and windy fall. I drove off to school with a big question mark on my face. Whether I would make it on time to pick my automotive class or would I sit there in dislike with a sour face on my soul, on the dislike of my classes. On my way to school I approached a fragment of the road where it looked like a horrifying most traumatic accident had happen leaving swirls of tire marks! Pieces of glass! And plastic on the floor, stained with the blood of a poor soul. As I slowly drove by the scene I could not of helped but to notice that my car was acting up. I had gotten a flat from the broken glass on the road. Like if the odds were against me, in a desperate cry for help. I cried for compassion and strength, but most importantly for my automotive class. Pulling over to fix the flat on my car, the cold and windy day fought against me making me take longer than I expect it. Causing my chances of an on time arrival at school to vanish into thin air. I got to school and entered the big red doors to the office asking for my automotive class. To my luck I was left with a sour face on my soul. It had been taken!. Left with no option but to choose the last class remaining. The seventh choice on my list Art 101. As I entered the colorful room of art I was in for the surprise of my life. Where my world would turn in an unparallel universe filled of positive influence, encouragement, persuasiveness and the most awesome job on the face of the planet.…

Beep. Beep. Beep. I open up my eyes and see my phone lighting up my dark room. I read the time; 5:00AM….. Ten more minutes; nope I need to get up; nope I have to get up. As I sit on the side of my bed with my feet dangling over the side I think why do I do this every morning. As I stumble over to the light switch in an almost drunken appearing state, stubbing my toe on everything along the way. I click on the light then think, why do I do this every morning. I get dressed. Put my hair in a French braid. Put on my running shoes and retrieve my phone. As I walk out the door I say good morning to my mom as she’s drinking her coffee. The cold frigid air hits me like an ice cold wave. I’m off.…

The other day when I was laying in my bed I was awaken by the intoxicating smell of freshly baked, made from scratch cookies. Not just any cookies though, they were my favorite that all you had to do was hold the cookie over your mouth and the pieces would fall right off landing in my mouth cookies, my mother’s homemade chocolate chip cookies without chocolate chips. These are the kind of cookies that even though I was all the way upstairs tucked in my bed I could taste them. They were soft, I could tell by the smell that they were hot and gooey right out of the oven and I could already feel them melting in my mouth. The almond flavor and my mother’s special ingredient of just a hint of coffee smelled as though I was standing next to the world’s best bakery with the freshest cookies on my right and the most exotic and freshest coffee shop on my left while holding in my hands a heap of almonds. I smiled and thought to myself, today is going to be a good day. I had no idea what that particular Saturday would bring but just having those cookies engulfed in my bedroom it didn’t matter what the day would bring me because I was happy. Just then I heard the metal spatula scrap the pan and the cookies were plopped onto a plate. Usually I can’t stand the sound of metal on metal but this was a dull smooth scrap it was as if the crumbs from the cookies cushioned the sound. The…
