My Junior Years
Starting my Junior year back at savanna again I was ready to make a change and be different from my sophomore year. I already knew what class I was going to take and what I was going to do so that I could go to college. In the first couple weeks of my junior year my grades were okay. I had A,B, and C. In my english Class I had a B and that was the first time I had a B in english since I was in junior high. The reason that I had a B in english my junior year was because of my teacher Ms. Stele. She helped me out a lot in my english class. She made the work very easy to understand and always should use examples and and sometimes videos of what we had to do. Then in my history class I had a decent grade because of my teacher Ms. Calles.

For seven consecutive years, the state of South Carolina rated the school as At-Risk, bringing in specialists in English, Math, and Science to help turn the school around. The test scores were in the bottom 5% in the state and less than 50% of the students who started Carolina High graduated with their 9th grade cohort. The teacher turnover rate was high, where 15 to 20% of the teachers left after each school year ended. The focus of the school was more centered on discipline and to keep the students in the classroom rather than curriculum and instruction and learning. Reactive approaches to education were employed rather than proactive. Because of the challenges the school faced, finding teachers became very difficult and less than quality teachers were sent to the school from other schools just so there was a warm body in the classroom. The expectations of the teachers was to keep the students in the classroom and do work, lacking an emphasis on the quality…

My first reading assignment in English class was The Tale of Two Cities; which was even hard for classmates to understand. I read and read and read the book. To understand one page, sometimes I spent hour. After school, the rest of my day was devoted to homework. I had a hard time and sometimes I wanted to go back to Korea. However, everyone in my school was kind and understanding, so most of the time they were patient with me until I finished my sentences and they answered my questions until I totally understood. When I had questions on homework, I visited subject teachers more than three times a day, but they were never annoyed by me. Even if I only studied in private school the first semester of sophomore year, until I transferred to public school, I could learn how to deal with people and overcome school obstacles, and was encouraged to conquer my second thoughts.…

These past few years at Lionville Middle School have been some of the most memorable and exciting parts of my life. I came to Lionville Middle School from Shamona Creek Elementary. Shamona Creek elementary was much smaller than the gargantuan, new middle school. Also, there were so many more students and teachers. I expected the middle school to be filled to the brim with classrooms and I was correct. Some of my first memories here are quietly coming into the school and looking for my classroom. I did not even know where to go or how to get there. All around I saw kids getting to their classes right away, while I was stuck in the hallways. Fortunately, I saw a friend and followed him toward my new classroom. When I got my new locker, I had…

Over the course of my day at Shepherdstown elementary I learned a lot more than I thought would even be possible. I witnessed both the good and bad moments during my one short day. Mrs. Austin seemed to have it all together, she was an amazing role model in the classroom and showed me what I should and shouldn’t do in certain situations. Observing the classroom showed me that I need to learn a lot of vital information throughout the program at Shepherd in order to be able to become successful in the classroom one day. When I started my day at Shepherdstown Elementary, I had mixed feelings. I was passionate and eager to be there but I also felt a sense of intimidation and fear when I started interacting with the students. I began to watch the teachers and see what they were doing. After sitting in the classroom and getting adjusted, my feelings had transformed. I started becoming more comfortable and feeling a lot better about where I was. By the end of the day I had a remarkable time and I cannot wait to have a classroom of my own one-day.…

Her teachings provided me with an opportunity to improve my intellectual being. She engrained in me an intellectual stimulation that triggered something meaningful. She taught me that it was a risk to learn something useful and intriguing; I was academically inspired in ways I never dreamed. High school is a different experience for everyone. The first three years really blend together and do not seem important, but senior year is completely different. Junior year was where you see the little light at the end of the tunnel, but it was filled with anxiety and frustration. Senior year is where it all becomes worth it and the rest of your life is finally going to begin.…

The time has come. After countless weeks of exams, homework, meetings, and random outbursts of crying, it’s time to venture home for a few days of much needed rest, real food, and time with loved ones. Thanksgiving has become a lot more meaningful now that I am away from college. I remember my first Thanksgiving freshman year. I was living the standard movie cliché of coming home for the holidays. I grew a beard, everyone commented on how much more liberal I’ve gotten, I was asked (and begrudgingly answered) how my classes were going, it was all part of the true college experience.…

I think that I challenged myself to receive good grades, and that I have done so this semester. I am eager to find out new or different things that I have some knowledge about, but I was amazed at the things I thought were right with counseling issues that I was completely wrong about. I am sure that I still have a long way to go, and many new things to learn. I feel that I was entirely invested in this class and all the assignments that were given to me. I wasn’t late on any assignments and many times had the assignment finished before it was due. I read each chapter carefully and was interested in each new thing that I found. I always want to do my very best in each class that I take. I returned back to college when I was 40 years old. This was something that I had dreamed of for many years, but was afraid to try it. I thought that I wasn’t smart enough to go back to school. I am glad that I made this decision even if it was many years after I should have done it.…

7th grade grade has so far been a year of hardships, good times, dramma filled boys, and hard to manage amounts of homework. I never realized that seventh grade would be so trying. The social life of a seventh grader is not what I thought at all. It can be very dramatic at times when it doesn't always have to be. For example, my friendships. I have made the best friends in middle school so far and I am overjoyed that the people here are so welcoming and eager to get to know you. Sometimes especially it seventh grade it seems that girl dramma is the big thing. That can sometimes ruin other friendships that you have with people that aren't even involved. Boys in seventh grade are aggravating. They sometimes think that they know everything about…
