My Journey through Life
My Journey through Life

Nothing is more important than life, even if it contained darkness or lightness. Everyone on earth has a special life; your life is different from others. Life has a lot of good and bad things, a lot of fun and unhappy situations we face during our lives. My mother has always told me, "Life is as complicated as you make it." Many people have contributed a positive impact to me. Because of them, I have definitely become what I am today. Four people have always significantly contributed to my life are my parents, oldest sister, and my high school teacher. I am so grateful for their support.

I was born on November 13, 1979, in Kuwait. I have great parents, and my Mom is Alia and Dad is Mohmmed. They married in 1971. My father worked in the military. His life was very hard. His father did when he was two months old, and his mother died when he was seven years old. My mom is so kind. My family consists of big four brothers and five sisters. We are close to Mom. Our lives were very simple with no technology like today. We were playing old playhouse and old playground.

I can't forget August 2, 1990, It was a Gulf War by Saudi Arabia, United States, and Coalition Force from thirty-four nations against Iraq's invasion of Kuwait and my country. In addition, the war was known under others names, such as the First Gulf War, Kuwait War and Operation Desert. After the Iran-Iraq War, Iraq was heavily debted from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Iraq pressured both to forgive the debts, but they refused. After that, the Iraq president immediately ordered the troops to move to Kuwait's capital and Khafge. They killed over ten thousand civilians in one day in both countries.

After the war, my country had a lot of debt, so they could not afford us with a good life. Many schools' building were leased, my school one of them. My dad walked me to the school on the first day. Teachers and students were strangers to me. It was a small building. It gave me a weird feeling when I saw it for the first time. I found a lot of kids were crying because the management of school was very bad and there were no candy, or playground equipment. Some teachers treated us like prisoners. Our education edifice was very bad. As the order from Ministry of Education; don't fail any student let them go to next grade because the cost will affect the income. We learn the basics from reading, writing, and math. My oldest sister has always helped me with my school stuff. I graduated with a B in all levels.

Life began to change a little in my country, as we depended on oil, the price become high. Everything changed and the government started to built a new school with a new technology, and change the old way of education. Nevertheless, they didn't improve the career of teachers.

During high school, we moved to a capital. My father enrolled me in a special school; it was different from public schools. The teachers were good and tried to help everyone, and I have gotten a very good score in courses. The best teacher who had a huge impact in my life is a high school teacher, his name is Mohammed Ali and he taught me mathematics. He didn't not only care about his teaching, he also take care of my special life. At the University of California, he earned a B.S. in Mathematics. He loved to read books and was always encouraging us. Furthermore, he told us about his prizes since the elementary school to college; really, he was very smart. Moreover, he even spent time with me studying math or other subjects. For example, he would tutor me in my weak subjects and was ready to help me out every time I have trouble. One day, my mother was very sick and I thought about her during my way to school and I almost got hit by a car but he held my hand to a safe place and yelled at the driver for not driving carefully. He was the person who taught me how to live safely, and he had an inspiration throughout my entire life. I feel very much to appreciate him for what he done for me. I had successfully graduated from high school with a very good grade.

Love and Lost are my last story. My wife and I met each other when I was 10 years old, and she was 7 years old. Our family were visited each other, and we were played together. However, we didn't knew any thing about marriage. As our religion law is women should cover her face and body after fifteen years old from strangers except her father, uncles, aunts, and brothers. In addition, male and female should separate from each other in wedding or schools. Our religion is Islam; Islam is a simple and practical religion. Islam is peace, mercy, justice, equality, love, truth, and morality. It has established clear, and easily understandable beliefs anyone can follow the rules and laws. Therefore, we separated from each other when she turned fifteen years old. However, I was still love her.

After five years, our families invented for someone wedding, by accident, I saw my girl, she was well dressed, and so beautiful. I told my parents about my love for Fatima. I went to ring shopping the next day. Then, we visited her family I proposed to her that night. After that, our families and we went to our trusted community elder who is familiar with the Islamic law to sign the marriage contract. It is usually a private affair.

As our tradition, the groom must pay for bride; I paid seventeen thousand dollar for her; she deserved more. After the marriage contract, you can meet your bride to decide the wedding plan and to meet each other. I was meeting her two days a week because my work was far from her city but called her every day. We talked about everything. We loved each other abundantly.

After one year, we deiced our wedding to be at her city in wedding palace. Before the day of the wedding I couldn't absorbed I will meet my better half and she will be with me forever. The first year of our marriage was a blur, full of changes and adjustments. But we thought it was time to know each other. Good things happened in the next year, my wife was pregnant. We needed to change to be better and take more responsibility. We told our family about the pregnancy.

Sadly, after five months from the pregnancy, she was bleeding, we went to the ER to the duty doctor, she took the sonar and found my baby was in the incorrect place, she said we couldn't did anything for the baby, after two hours in the hospital, the baby died. My wife was crying and felt very pained. The baby was a girl. Then, I carried her in my arms without any breathing, smiling, or moving. I found a lot of men were happy for their babies expect me. June 16, 2007 I had to do the hardest thing I ever had to do bury my daughter. I still carry her with me everywhere I go and have a clear image in mind of her black eyes, and beautiful hair. In addition, my wife is still worry from next pregnancy. And, we will tell her brothers and sisters all about her.

In conclusion, life is a journey, you never know what to expect maybe it will be easy or maybe not, but you will know once you have reached the destination. Wish you all the best on journey.

I’m happy with who I am today, just as everyone should be. But if I could change anything about myself, I’d want to have more motivation to do things. In the mornings before school I can barely get out of bed because I’m so tired and don’t want to go to school. I’m exceedingly intelligent but I don’t have any drive. I procrastinate on most of my work, and sometimes I just don’t want to do the work. Right now I’m rank 14 in my class but I could’ve been higher if I had any drive my freshman year. I don’t think about how my decisions now will impact me later and when I do, I don’t really care. I also don’t have much motivation to do things in sports activities. Last year I played volleyball and I never had that much playing time. Never being able…

To go on a journey does not necessarily require one to physically move from one place to another. A journey can happen anywhere, and at any time, even if you are not moving. An inner journey is to transcend above the physical and temporal world into a spiritual realm. This enables one to look at life attentively and be alert to the lessons learnt from experience. ‘Of Eurydice’ by Ivan Lalic, ‘Fax X’ by Gwyneth Lewis, ‘Wind in the Willows’ by Kenneth Graham, ‘The Road Not Taken’ by Robert Frost, ‘The Red Tree’ by Shaun Tan and ‘Baraka’ directed by Ron Fricke are five texts that explore this concept of inner journeys. Collectively they present inner journeys to be inevitable, that they require you to make choices and that they make you ask questions of an ontological nature.…

During that time we lived in a studio in my grandpas house. The school i attended at the time was Dwight eisenhower elementary. Everyone thought i was a genius because i got 4 diplomas at the trimester awards while everyone got two or one. What i remember the most from living with my grandpa was every weekend he used to knock at our door at 7 am just to come talk to us. It was annoying because he wouldn't stop until we opened the door. Before i knew it in 2008 we had another package included into my family. Our family was growing rapidly so my parents decided to move out into a much bigger house, which is where i live today.
