My Flat
My Flat (1) We have a nice flat in a new block of flats. Our flat is on the fourth floor. It has all modern conveniences: central heating, gas, electricity, cold and hot water, a lift and a chute to carry rubbish down. There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a hall in our flat. The living-room is the largest and most comfortable room in the flat. In the middle of the room we have a square-table with six chairs round it. To the right of the dinner-table there is a wall-unit which has several sections: a sideboard, a wardrobe and some shelves. At the opposite wall there is a piano and stool before it. Between the two large windows there is a little table with a colour TV set on it. Near the TV set there are two cosy armchairs. A small round table, a divan-bed and a standard lamp are in the left-hand corner. This small table is for newspapers and magazines. My father is used to having a rest sitting on this divan-bed reading books, newspapers, magazines or watching TV. The bedroom is smaller than the living-room and not so light as there is only one window in it. In this room there are two beds with a bedside-table between them. An alarm-clock and a small lamp with a pink lamp-shade are on the table. In the left-hand corner there is a dressing-table with a big mirror. In this room we have a built-in wardrobe with coat-hangers to hang clothes on.There is a thick carpet on the floor and plain light-brown curtains on the window. The third room is my study. It is not large but very cosy. There isn't much furniture in it, only the most necessary. It has a writing-table and an armchair before it. In the righthand corner there is a bookcase full of books, magazines and newspapers. A small table with a radio is standing in the left-hand corner. Near it there is a sofa with some cushions. In my opinion, the study is the best room in our flat. But the warmest place in our flat is the kitchen, I think — the place where the whole family gathers every evening not only to

After visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, two rooms caught my attention. The dining room from Lansdowne House, London (dining room) reflecting the English Neoclassical style and the Bedroom from the Sagredo Palace, Venice (bedroom) illustrating the end of Italian Baroque and the beginning of the Rococo style. As this essay moves forward, a number of the characteristics of each room will be highlighted, starting off with the general space and scale of the room, moving into the ceiling, walls, floors, furniture, and art work, highlighting similar and contrasting features of each room.…

After almost 18 years I have been sleeping in the same room with square shape, it is about 50m² in my grandmother’s house, but it is nit just mine because I share it with my older brothers, that is the reason why you can find a bunk in the right corner (behind the door) it is a little old, seen as it has been here for over 27 years, next to it, you can find a wooden log which belongs to one of my brothers and he uses it as a table where he puts his notebooks and that kind of stuff. The war on drugs whether wrong, right, or indifferent, has yielded a plethora of life changing outcomes for many United States citizens. Both the plaintiff and the defendant have their own side of the dispute, and yet somehow the plaintiff in the non-stop ‘cash grab’ that’s so conveniently nicknamed the “War on Drugs” gets the benefit of zero-tolerance, or minimum sentencing. In most cases the defendants simply are doomed from the beginning due to horrible living conditions and lack of jobs in the area. Coupled with police brutality and prejudice pointed toward the African-American community as a whole, it should come as no surprise that in 2011 there were more African-Americans in prison or “under the watch” of the justice system than were enslaved in the United States in 1850. This is not any more a war on drugs than the Iraqi Conflict was a war on the seizure of weapons of mass destruction.…

The room was bright, though the fluorescent bulbs lined up perfectly along the ceiling had a major part in that, the sun was shinning through the windows on the left side of the room. The chalk boards located at the front of the classroom were as clean as could be and almost looked brand new, if it were not for the scratches. The right and back walls were filled with posters and pictures of previous graduates. The shelves around the room stacked with everything an English room would need from dictionaries and thesauruses to loose-leaf and pencils. The room seemed to have a particular place for everything, right down to the 6 rows of desks that were place in straight lines facing the front of the…

I never told you about the cramped and noisy circumstances of my childhood. You know I spent most of my younger years living in a 900 square foot house with three small bedrooms, a galley kitchen, a compact living-dining room and one tiny bathroom. The house belonged to my grandparents; my mother, sister, and I shared one of the bedrooms. Another bedroom accommodated my invalid aunt, her wheelchair, and port-a-pot, and a bed where my granddaddy slept. The third bedroom, a closet sized space held a bed for my grandmother. There was a host of other family in and out of the house most days, sometimes sleeping over and other times stopping by only for a meal and boisterous conversation.…

A large bay window peeked into the fresh lawn outside and right in the middle of it sat an immense lime beanbag. I would slump easily into it, after a never-ending day of impossible math, to read contently. Of course, the book came from one of the two towering walnut bookcases, glimmering reddish in the irregular rays of sunlight. The room nearly flew to the sky giving the image of an ancient roman cathedral with vaulted ceilings. To the left of the beanbag nook, the king, feather-filled bed protruded like a needle perpendicular to the beige wall. The soft mattress was caringly wrapped in teal and lavender floral sheets. Across the room from the bed, and next to the book shelves, a small but neatly-kept L-desk waited to be used when homework time started. My overly used laptop and practically ancient printer sat on the desk, quietly keeping each other company. The last of the four large walls in my rectangular room held the door to the rest of the house in one corner. My matching walnut armoire occupied the middle of this wall, silently watching and looming over me like a protective giant. On the wall on top of the armoire, my much-appreciated flat screen TV took its place like a prince taking his thrown to become king. This meant there was still an enormous space in the middle of the room. What would I put there? A square, orange and fuzzy rug sheathed the naked oak floor. An eclectic couch made of a mosaic sprinkling of quilts sat on top. Yes that would be the finishing touch……

The kitchen is decorated with polished wooden cabinets and a squeaky clean stove that shows your reflection when staring down upon it. There is also a fridge in the back of the kitchen and the trash bin resides next to the fridge. Touring the rest of the apartment there is my bedroom, my sister’s room and the master bedroom. My room suits all my needs; whether it be sleeping, eating, studying, or relaxing. My getaway place is my room. There are two twin beds in my room, and a closet full of shoes and clothes. A 50 inch television sits on top of the only black sleek dresser in the room. My room is usually where I invite all my friends over and throw parties. In my sister’s room there is a formal setup, just a simple king sized bed and a beige headstand where she keeps her television. In the hallway there is a treadmill where users can burn off calories and improve cardio. There are two bathrooms in the apartment, inside them are white walls and brown tiles in the tub. Also a mirror is above the sink to make sure people arrange themselves properly before exiting. The master bedroom hosts a bathroom, closet, and a desktop on top of a glass computer…

I haven’t visited for many years but I visited so much as a child I do not need a tour. The ceilings are very high and I can barely see them in the darkness of the night. The walls all have lovely paintings covering them. I can tell the interior design has been thoroughly thought out and the colour scheme is gold, black and red. When I finally make it up the many flights of stairs to the 6th floor of the building where my room is situated I thank the butler for taking care of me and go inside. The first thing I notice is how dark the room is. The only source of light is the moon light shining through the window, which casts a mysterious glow across the room. I quickly go to the fireplace and light it to provide me with not just light but warmth as I am cold from my trek. After successfully lighting the fire I light a candle next to my bed. I then finally have a look around my room. It looks as if they had set this room up for me with months’ notice, but in truth they only found out a week ago they would be taking me in. there is a lovely vanity on one side of the room, a wardrobe full of lovely clothing and many expensive pieces of furniture laid out around the room. Deciding to thoroughly look through my room in the morning I find a gown to wear to bed and go to…

Generally, near the sea, in the coast, the temperature is softer than in the centre of a country, so I would like to live in a house next to the beach, where I can see the sea from the windows, hear the sound of water, enjoy a warm weather and walk on the sand every morning. If the house had a garden I would sow a lot of pine trees because on the one hand they have sweet-smelling and on the other hand they are evergreen trees which keep nice throughout the year. I would enjoy reading and listening to music if I sat in a comfortable swing under the shadow of the trees where also I would sit during the summer nights.…

    House or Flat

A house or a flat is for everybody not just a place where you sleep, eat or relax, but it is a place, which we all call „ home“. Well, as the saying goes, „ As a good roof shelters us from winter´s storms, a good home shelters us from life´s storms“, home is a place where you can find, on the one hand, help, understanding and embrace of your family through the tough times in your life and on the other hand, joy, love and happiness while experiencing all the family most memorable days and events. House or flat? That is the question asked by those who start their family life or just want to become independent. Their decision should be thought properly and considered from each sight of view. Let’s have a look at these both possible choices in more details and with further explanation. Probably the most important difference between them is, as I think, in a size of an offered area. A flat usually consists of one to four rooms, whereas a house is designed to be more comfortable and is arranged with large space for every member of a family. Lately, there´s a wide variety of houses and we just have to decide which one fits to our needs, wishes and financial situation best. If you wish to live in country, for example, you can get a farm house or even a cottage, which is, yet, nowadays usually used as a weekend house. A standard house, whether it is a detached, a semi-detached or a terraced house, consists of a kitchen, a dining room, a master bedroom, one or two bedrooms for children, a living room, a laundry, not necessarily a study, a garage, a hall and an attic. A house has usually also a garden either for growing vegetables and breeding animals or for having a lawn with flowerbeds, possibly a small pond. When you decide for a new house, you face another decision, though. Whether to choose from a wide offer of producers of typical family houses or cooperate with an architect who will design a unique house for you or you will merely…
