My First Day at College....
College life is a life of freedom. I remember my first day at college. I had looked forward to this day from my school days. Life at college meant for me a new life. I was no more a young child but a teenager. The rain was pounding against my window as I awoke at the 'ungodly' hour of seven thirty. It was bad enough that I had to be there for 9 AM. I felt so secure and warm wrapped up in my winter duvet. It was the best feeling in the world. As I finally dragged my self out of the comfort and security of my bed, I felt the cold as I rushed to get a shower.

.When I entered my college for the first day, I looked around with a mixed feeling of confusion and joy. The stately building with massive pillars made a deep impression on my mind. I was puzzled as I was not used to the ‘college-ways’ of things. The students in batches were moving up and down the corridors for their classes. The professors were coming smilingly and exchanging greetings with the students in a friendly manner.I didn't really want to go, but something inside me told me I should; it would be for the best. Today wasn't just my first day at college;it was the start of a journey. I arrived early, about eight thirty. I'll always remember that totally lost feeling which i had at that time. "A college degree is not a sign that one is a finished product but an indication a person is prepared for life."

The first item on the routine was a lecture on English. I joined my class room. The professor came with the attendance register. After finishing roll-call he delivered a short lecture on college-life. What impressed me most was the fluency with which he spoke. He advised us to take the maximum advantage of college-life. Consulting my day’s routine I found that the next period was an off-period. This gave me a chance to make a tour round the college premises. I noted with a sense of relief that I would no longer be confined to the same room for hours together as I used to be at school. The first year of college can be a new and exciting journey for many students. Students can also take on new experiences in their first year of college;it can also come with bumps along the way. As a student he or she must find a way to balance their new life as a college student and their transitions. There will be difficulty transitioning such as adapting to new the new environment, trying to make new friends and difficulty with class work.Adjusting to an environment that you’re not used to can be too much for some students...

Attending the Pride friday at IUPUC before the beginning of school has been one of the most helpful events. By going to this I met some friends and learned more about the school itself. Although I have made the choice not to stay at IUPUC all four years of my college career, being here my first semester has started me off great. During this event they spoke of how we start and end our four years in the same way. I am just glad I have been able to enjoy my first semester by making some new friends, learning new strategies to working and figuring my life out.…
