The cool fall air brought light goose bumps to my arms. Still a bit bothered by the cold, I took my long brown hair out of its usual ponytail and let it spread out across my back, warming my in the slightest. I rubbed my arms absentmindedly, looking around for Octavia. We always met here, on the metal bleachers, which rose above the green football field, waiting until the practice was over and Jake could drive us home. When I realized that she wasn’t anywhere near me, I turned my attention to the players on the field. The football team this year is supposed to be amazing, at least, from what I have been told and from what I have seen. Basically every student at Arrowsmith High School’s life revolved around football, or so it seemed. It…

This is evident in Act 1 Page 17 where Sheila expresses the fact that she, “can’t help thinking about this girl-destroying herself so horribly”, the remorseful act Sheila displays is an improvement in her understanding of other actions. However she carried on to negate her remarks on the destruction of the girl by explaining how she, “wish(ed) you hadn’t told me”, because she was ‘so happy tonight’. This indicates to the reader that she is still stuck in a paradox where she doesn’t want to know of any unhappiness that doesn’t involve her however does have a minimal yet needed understanding for her actions on others. She displays this opinion because of her parent’s opinions and influence which she has heard and understood, the shared feeling of treating the world like it is for your own and no one else’s shows how the upper-class’ children and upcoming generation are being poisoned by their own opinionated feelings towards the lower and less ‘valuable’…

Many authors use experiences from their life as a guide to their writing. It’s a way to express their feelings and emotions, and it’s something in which they can be passionate. Writers and authors think on a different level than anyone else. They are constantly thinking of different ideas for novels, poems or stories. The best writing comes from those who use their own lives as a basis for their writing. They know what to write about and how to describe it perfectly. The best thing about writing from experience, I think, is that, since it’s still a fictional story, you can have an idea about what you want to write about, but you’re still able to add the interesting and fun details you want to. I believe that Louisa May Alcott has written from her own life experiences.…

She didn’t care, she thought it was her job to look after the people of this town. To demonstrate, while Miss Strangeworth was at the post office, delivering the letters, Linda Stewart came towards her crying saying, “I can’t tell you, I just can’t, it’s just nasty.” Miss Strangeworth obviously did something cruel, Linda just won’t tell her. Miss Strangeworth turned away and went to mail her letters. As she slid her letters into the slot two of them went in, and one of them fell outside onto the ground. She didn’t notice that she dropped one. Furthermore the next morning after Miss Strangeworth woke up she saw a green envelope lying on her floor. Miss Strangeworth opened the envelope. She began to cry silently for the wickedness of the world when she read the words: “Look out at what used to be your roses.” Clearly Miss Strangeworth’s cruel character came back to haunt her that morning. She had just made a huge…

Never be mean to anyone, because you don’t know what they may be going through. The life lesson came from in the beginning when Hilary realized that these Jewish people were being treated so poorly “She floats toward me, like some kind of spirit, with a wet cloth in her hand. She wipes my face and then I hear dunking the cloth. I hear the water running off it as she lifts it up again, and I think of me and Estera Hurwitz, dunking our undergarments into our bucket.”. Hilary is in such awe that the Jewish people are being treated in such a poor manner. This was the beginning of Hilary’s realization of the life lesson. Hilary throughout the book went back and forth about her opinions on the Jewish religion, but towards the end she really started to regret how awful she was to the Jewish boy that lived across the street from her. Hilary was mean to this one Jewish boy named Simon who happened to be her friend when she was a younger but as she got older she didn’t like him “I told him I didn’t like him, and neither did anyone else. Ans he says, ‘You used to like me. You used to play with me, remember?’ ‘That was because I was bored,’ I told him” This made me very upset that she lies to him why she doesn’t like him anymore. Later in that page she says I don't know why I hate him it's just how he acts. I do not like how Hilary has to lie to herself to make herself feel better for hating…
