The film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, is placed in the action and comedy genre. Liman works well within the genre because of his experience from prior films. Liman uses the comedy within the film with these special characters having ordinary problems. Action films usually have the main action around the male hero, women usually play the role of a romantic interest or accomplices. An action film also includes many physical stunts, car chases, battles, and destructive disasters. Almost all action films the character struggles against the odds such as, an evil villain or a life threatening circumstances.
