Ultimately, I think Romeo and Juliet are to blame for their deaths. Yes, the long-lasting family feud could be blamed. Yes, Friar Laurence could be blamed for planning something of such high risk. Yes, Lord Capulet could be blamed for arranging Paris and Juliet to be married. Under all these circumstances, though, Romeo and Juliet could have made different decisions that wouldn’t have led to death. For instance, they could have chosen to take their time getting married, instead of rushing into it. Friar Laurence foreshadowed this point in act two, scene six. “These violent delights have violent endings...Too swift arrives as tardy as too slow.” Also, if Romeo hadn’t let his anger get the best of him after Mercutio died, he wouldn’t have been…

In William Shakespeare’s play Romeo & Juliet we look at two star-crossed lovers, from opposite sides of an ancient grudge in the town of Verona and their struggle between fate and freewill. Shakespeare deliberately creates characters that can be held accountable for the tragic deaths of the central roles. Their untimely demise can be attributed to four contributing factors: The poor advice of Friar Lawrence and the Nurse, the two feuding households, the impulsive behaviour of our chief protagonists and the cruel bitter irony of fortune.…

Before Romeo and Juliet’s tragic suicides they each interacted with many different characters, but which of these characters are the ones responsible? In Shakespeare’s famous play Romeo and Juliet, two secret lovers (Romeo and Juliet) die. They both committed suicide because of events leading up to the end of the play. Since they were so in love they could have had the opportunity to be happy together, but some other characters prevented that and ultimately forced Juliet and Romeo’s suicides. In the end the prince states “some shall be pardoned, and some punished.” (5.3.307), but he never says who. Leaving us to wonder who are to be punished. There are three characters whose personalities and actions caused the tragic ending. Friar Lawrence’s…

In the play Romeo & Juliet, Friar Laurence is the one to blame for Romeo & Juliet’s death. Friar Laurence should have waited til they were both there to tell them about the plan. If this were to happen, then Romeo would have waited until Juliet to awaken instead of killing himself out of misery. And if Romeo never killed himself then Juliet wouldn’t have stabbed herself with his dagger. In act 4, scene 1, line 89-94, it says,”Friar Laurence. Hold, then. Go home, be merry, give consent to marry Paris. Wednesday is tomorrow. Tomorrow night look that thou lie alone: let not the nurse lie with thee in thy chamber. Take thou this vial, being then in bed, and this distilled liquor drink thou off..”. This shows that Friar Laurence decided to act on his plan with Juliet without informing Romeo. Which caused Romeo to poison himself and Juliet to dagger herself.…

Shakespeare once wrote in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet “The dashing rocks thy seasick weary bark!/Here’s to my love! [drinks] O true apothecary!/Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die” (V.III. 118-120). Directly after saying this, Romeo takes a poison and dies in hopes that he will spend the rest of eternity with the one he loves--Juliet. Both Romeo and Juliet commit suicide because Romeo thinks Juliet had died so he takes his life for her, then when Juliet wakes up she takes her own life because Romeo has died. How our two star-crossed lovers died was never in question, but who is most to blame for their deaths, is. Many say that there are other people in the play that are to blame for their deaths. Juliet faked her death using a plan given to her, that is why it is Friar Laurence’s fault that Romeo and Juliet both killed themselves, and he is the one to blame.…

In my opinion the people who surrounded Romeo and Juliet were mainly responsible for their deaths and the consequences. However it can be considered as destiny that Romeo and Juliet are surrounded by such people who in the end are responsible for their deaths. For example it is not by chance that Juliet had such a Nurse and Romeo had such friends which encouraged those coincidences and took part in major events such as Mercutio’s death.…
