The book of Exodus literacy genre is written in a religious format by Moses in 1445 BC. The book of Exodus expresses God’s love for his people. It tells the story of slavery, emancipation and liberation. Exodus is the story of the Israelites escape from Egypt. The book of Exodus focuses on Moses life. It includes three periods of his life from his birth to becoming the prince of Egypt, his time in Midian as a shepherd, and the time he spent as a leader of the people in the exodus and wildness journeys. One of the major points in this book is when Moses spoke to God at the burning bush. As God revealed himself to Moses he mentions the key verse of the book “I am who I am. This what you are to say to the Israelites: I am has sent me to you” (Exodus 3:14). He was born in the Land of Goshen during a time when Israelites were slaves of Egypt. Around this time King Pharaoh ordered that all male children born be thrown into the water. Moses mother saw that he had a gift at birth and refused to let her child be thrown into the water. She created a basket, placed Moses inside and sent him down the Nile River to Egypt. He was taken in and raised by King Pharaoh and his family and became known as the Prince of Egypt. As he grew older he start to notice how bad the slaves of Egypt were treated and later met his sister and brother who were slaves of Egypt. He then start to realize that he no longer fit in as the prince of Egypt and ran away to the land of Midian and became a shepherd. Moses overall purpose after becoming a shepherd was to become a leader for his people who were slaves of Egypt.
