It is important because it helps the reader find the source that was used in the essay if they are looking forward to further information. It is important to use MLA format because it helps formatting the page layout, stylistic technicalities, citing sources, and preparing a manuscript for publication in certain disciplines. 3. What is the difference between in-text citation and works cited citation? In-text citation shows the formatting requirements of using MLA style for citing sources in the text of your essay, but works cited helps you show the reader where the source came from.
