The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) protects human health and the environment and investigates inquiries and complaints from the public regarding environmental matters. MDEQ staff responds to complaints such as fish kills, sewage issues, illegal dumping, storm water sediment runoff, odors, and other environmental issues. An online complaint tracking system provides information on the complainant, the investigation, and the resolution. MDEQ has staff at three regional offices in Oxford, Pearl, and Biloxi that respond to complaints. The MDEQ website is www.deq.state.ms.us. Assist with achieving education, employment, nutrition, housing, health services, community affairs and transportation. Provides financial assistance to eligible households to help pay costs of energy bills. Provides assistance to reduce costs of home heating/cooling. Assist families with meeting their nutritional needs by participating in food share programs, purchasing food through pantries, and feeding homeless through soup kitchens. -CSBG
Through Community Action Agencies, clients are assisted with education, employment, housing, health, nutrition and transportation. -LIHEAP
Assist clients with energy and other utility bills.
Improve clients homes by performing energy audits, air sealing, attic insulation, wall insulation, duct insulation, installing smart thermostats, installing lighting retrofits and refrigerator replacement.
