Although there is currently no known cure and it is a commonly held belief that vitiligo is untreatable, there are actually several treatment options available (Amer et al., 2015). Aside from using makeup to coverup the discolored skin, there are treatments which aim to restore normal skin color and also an option to remove pigment from unaffected skin.
In regard to restoration of pigment, treatment either takes the form of spot treatment or whole body treatment. There are two topical spot treatments as well as mini grafting. The spot treatments are considerable less invasive but also less predictable.
