Miami – Dade College and Valencia College, so different yet, so alike.

Miami-dade college is the second largest institution for higher education in the United States (Wikipedia). It is home of the Sharks, and it is conveniently located in one of the most exotic and amazing cities in the world. On the other hand, we have Valencia College, ranked number one for Associate degrees awarded each year, among two year colleges. It makes its home in one of the number one tourist attraction spots in the United States, and it has been recognized numerous times throughout the years for its students academic achievements. Each of these previously community colleges have similar characteristics that make them stand out but without a doubt, it is their differences that make each of these schools so favored. Probably the most important thing that each of these schools has to offer is their location. Miami-dade college has six campuses throughout the fun and exciting city of Miami. The main campus is located in the heart of Downtown Miami, right in front of the court house, and two streets away from the tourist attraction, Bayfront Park. The greatest thing about going to class in Downtown Miami, is that being such a metropolitan location, students are able to ride the Metro-rail, a public transit system that rides on an elevated rail, for free, which is an experience in itself. Students are also exposed to so many great professionals who go to and from work everyday in this busy area of the city, allowing them the opportunity to not only familiarize themselves with the city, but they are also given the opportunity to network with people who could potentially benefit them in the future. On the other hand, Valencia is located in Orlando, a city with a much slower pace, and a much more goal goal oriented attitude. Orlando may not be the city that will give people as much to see as Miami, but it is home to so many world renown resorts, and of course Disney. It is the Mecca for

El Camino maybe one of many community colleges in the South Bay Area but what defines it is it's somewhat professional air around it. El Camino maybe a community college but it has the same feeling as though you are in a four-year. I wouldn't be surprised by the time that I am a full grown adult that El Camino will be known as a CSU because it's still building to accommodate new buildings just like any other four year university and and I believe that people are starting to notice all the opportunities that will come with attending El Camino. The most recent example which shows how highly recommended El Camino is was when I was going to Dominguez Hills to ask what would better my chance to to attend their school and the admissions Office lady…

The first advantage that many consider, is the low tuition cost that a contributor from Forbes magazine mentions. They say that “...the average community college student paid $2713 in tuition - a tenth of the tuition expense shouldered by students at private four-year colleges.” This is a great advantage for those who are not sure what they want to major in and do not want to invest money into classes at a four year college, and then there are people who cannot afford the tuition cost of a university even with scholarships, which leaves them with at least being able to afford community college classes. Another great advantage that ties in with paying a smaller tuition at Fullerton community college is financial aid, which Fullerton University has as well but does not compare to being able to have all of your classes paid for and for some Fullerton College students they even have their textbooks paid for. The third greatest advantage to attending a Fullerton College would be being able to get into some majors in two years or less with the great degree and certificate programs they provide. There really are so many more great advantages such as, having more access from your professors for assistance and having smaller classroom sizes that usually only private universities or certain classes in a university would be able to provide. Lastly another great advantage that Fullerton College students like the option of having is being able to usually plan your their own schedule to attend class and being able to have a lighter load of homework and studying than you would at Fullerton…
