Melinda's Thali A Short Story
Hi, Melinda, it’s Thalia how are you? Last time I saw you were not speaking. I need you to trust me and tell me what happened to you that day at the party. I am aware that everyone is blaming you for calling the police. I’m sure that if you called the police it was for a good reason. Speak to me, I promise I won't say anything to your parents or your so-called friends. Remember how close we were before this incident happened we would always tell each other everything. I am very sorry that my parents moved me to Manhattan. Moreover, living in Manhattan is nothing like living in Syracuse. I am able to walk outside at any time and find a place to eat. Even the weather is different I don’t know how is that even possible but it is. We actually

Thalia Grace, or just Thalia, since she doesn’t like using her last name, is one of the children of the Big Three. Who are the Big Three, you ask? Well, they are the top most powerful gods in Olympus: Zeus, lord of the sky, Poseidon, lord of the sea, and Hades, lord of the Underworld. You must be thinking, ‘Thalia Grace? I never heard of her. Is she a minor goddess?’ This is because Thalia is a fictional character from Rick Riordan’s national bestseller series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. She is purely make-believe, a character from the mind and imagination of the author himself. She isn’t the main character of the book, but she plays an important role. But, nobody really knows a lot about her. Who is Thalia Grace?…

Brooklyn, New York is a very capacious city. My favorite thing to do there is shop. When I go shopping, I often enjoy seeing the enormous crowds in the downtown area which lets me know I am in New York. I try to ignore the rambunctious sounds coming from the cars, buses, people and trains because Brooklyn is a very large city which means there’s going to be a lot of noise coming from everywhere. When I go downtown, a very distinct aroma often hits me which I think only I can smell. I just love the fresh scent of downtown; the scent is as fresh as the smell of roses; very obsessive. Also, when I am downtown, I frequently visit a deli called Lawry’s to get me a hero which is something like a sandwich but only better. The taste of it is very addictive which leaves me wanting more and more. I just love Brooklyn and I doubt anywhere else can replace it.…

All of our friends came over to get ready. Before we left for the party at Andrew’s, we promised that we would watch over each other.I pulled on the side of the road because Andrew’s driveway was already packed. We walked inside to find someone we knew.As i turned the corner I ran smack into the backside of Andrew and Tony. They both turned around ready to scream and cuss. They saw that is was me and they calmed down.I apologized over and over.Andrew chuckled and told me it was an accident.”Do y’all want something to drink?” We said “Sure, but nothing too strong.”I was handed a solo cup with something real potent in it. As the liquid went down my throat I got a warm feeling.I told Simone not to drink too much because she will end up getting sick.We had so much fun at the party, we played beer pong and we just had fun. As the night progressed I tired not to drink too much even though we had a designated driver. Simone on the other hand was throwing shots back with the encouragement of Tony.I was worried about her cause she doesn't drink like that.Out the corner of my eye i saw Simone trying to come towards me and Tony yanked her back to him. I went over and told Simone to come on because we were leaving. Tony demanded she stay with him and he will drive her home. I tried to beg and plead with her but she wouldn't come.My friends and I waited till Tony and Simone left so we could follow them. We were following them and Tony almost took…

On the March fourth, 2002; I was invited to a birthday party of a very close friend of mine. The beginning of the party was slow and not too much was going on at that time but there was a lot of food, which kept me entertained; there was, pizza, 6 foot tuna sub sandwiches, cake, ice cream and a bunch of other food and I ate a lot. There was really not that much meat served at the party because it was still during Lint- a religious holiday were, except for fish, Catholics stop eating meat for 40 days and 40 nights. Mandy, the beautiful birthday girl made us feel very welcome and tried to keep us entertained; she also said repeatedly, "The party will get better after dark when some people leave." The party started getting interesting, to me, when the piñata came out and the little kids were not allowed to swing. After the piñata some of the older people started leaving and two other annoying teenagers, around our age, who kept on ruining the fun also left; so after they all left the real party started. Inside of a shed in the back yard there were flashing lights that made everything seemed slow motion and we cranked the music up loud enough to hold a concert and since the house was out in the country no one complained about anything and the police never came for D.T.P, Disturbing the Peace. Everyone danced until knees started collapsing on the floor, drunken people passed out on anything available and until the D.J was to drunk to play; the party wasn't over until about 5:00 in the morning; menudo was served the next…

Day or night, there are cars honking, people talking, and music playing. I like the saying: “The grass is always greener on the other side.” To me, it means that we tend to believe that life in places different from our residence is for some reasons better. Considering this, I have tried to be content with the place where I resided throughout my life – a regular city in the center of the United States. However, due to various circumstances which would take too much time to describe here, I started to think about changing my life and moving to another area. And, to start with, I attempted to figure out where I wanted to live, in all sincerity.…
