The teenagers in the novel are taught not to think about or interact with the things around them. They do not have any social interactions and are held in a school for long periods of time without seeing their families. The teenagers’ parents do not love them or care about them. Guy’s neighbor declares, “You heave them into the ‘parlor’ and turn the switch. It’s like washing clothes: stuff laundry in and slam the lid” (Bradbury 93). The teenagers do not have proper parental figures to point them in the right direction. These new generations become…

In the New Testimony of the Holy Bible, Jesus Christ was set to be killed for everyone’s sins “because he made himself Son of God” (John 19:7). All the Jewish people made fun of Jesus for this berserk claim and didn’t like that he was establishing himself as superior to everyone else. Jesus was captured then captured and tortured. The Jewish soldiers “platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head,” mocking him for being King of Jews (John 19:2). The thorns dug into Jesus’s head, causing him great pain. The soldiers did this mockingly and accused him of lying in the name of God. In the same sense, Soldiers tortured John Proctor. His wife, Elizabeth Proctor, visits him in his cell. She looks at him and is appalled, saying “You-have been tortured?” (134). She is stunned, and feels deep sympathy for him. He answers in short sentences: “Aye...They come for my life now” (134). He is in deep pain and emotionally scarred, resulting in short, few word sentences. In this line, he foretells his ungodly fate. Jesus and John’s crucifixion happened similarly. Jesus was given the opportunity to save himself by reversing his claim of being the King of Jews and Son of God. Though given this chance, he felt it was lying to his people and denied it. Furthermore, after John’s acquisition, he was given the choice of confessing to witchcraft or being sentenced to the gallows. He knew that no one convicted…

The first and biggest problem in today’s children is that they are getting spoiled beyond belief. When kids are spoiled the way they are being spoiled today it sets them up to fail in their future lives. Brenda Scottsdale a licensed psychologist and author for livestrong.com states, “Spoiling your children can be harmful to them both socially and developmentally. Since children who are spoiled often do not have to learn to solve their own problems, they can lack the life skills necessary to successfully negotiate the demands of adulthood.” When it comes time for these children to manage their money and make financial decisions in their own life they will struggle and rely on their parents to bail them out as they have done repeatedly in the past. In their adult years, lacking these skills makes these people lazy, angry, and unhappy with themselves. The second root cause in poorly acting children today is being neglected or lacking a positive role model at home. According to Hannah Richardson, a BBC education reporter, “When teachers were asked about the root cause of poor behaviour, three quarters blamed a lack of positive role models at home.” When children don’t have a structured upbringing with discipline in place, they struggle to make the right decisions in life that would keep them out of trouble. There was a study that suggested forty-two percent of students causing trouble today have been…

“You could definitely tell they thought, “Who is this person and why does he think he can do something that took me years to do?”” (Ellin 205). She also uses examples from studies to show her argument that the generation of millennial is more “revived”, yet “needy”. (Ellin 205). By discussing the characteristics of millennials, Ellin is able to back up her argument. The audience now sees the differences in the generations. “They seek constant feedback and immediate gratification. They multitask and can’t focus. They’re sensitive to criticism and unable to work alone.” (Ellin 205). By stating stereotypes of this particular generation, she is able to inform the readers on how the millennial are viewed by other generations. Ellin then persuades belief of her argument even more by giving studies. “Her cross-generational data analysis of college students show that recent cohorts are especially narcissistic, believing they are above average” (Ellin 206). Further on, the author explains and gives a comparison to show how the two very vary. “Respect has a different feel across generations. Millennials believe respect should be earned. Older generations are frustrated by their lack of civility.” (Ellin 208). In conclusion, Ellin provided information, stereotypes, and studies, to prove her thesis that…

When the Bible says ‘they’, it is referring to Jesus and His disciples. This was the time after they had taken part in the Lord’s Supper. But what amazes me is that Jesus knew that not long from then He would be betrayed, arrested, tried by Annas, tried by Caiaphas, tried by the Sanhedrin, tried by Pilate, tried by Herod and then by Pilate again. As well as this He was beaten, spat at, a crown of thorns placed on His head and He would endure a very cruel death by crucifixion, yet our Saviour sang. When I think that Jesus knew what He was going to bare, even to the point of His sweat becoming as blood in the Garden of Gethsemane and yet He still sang; I am humbled and left in…

Adult society believes they are steering the younger generation in the right direction. But, in actuality, they do not realize they model the hypocritical behavior instead of resolving it. For example, in the novel Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, a group of young British boys are stranded on an island and become primitive. In the resolution of the novel, a naval officer rescues the young boys and criticizes them. It is ironic to see that a man who leads barbaric war dares to censure these children who “should have put up a better show” ( Golding 202) when he is no better. This demonstrates that adults in society and not aware of their faults. Although they condition the younger generation from right and wrong, they are hypocrites. They carp at the younger generation for making mistakes when they are not perfect themselves. When children mature they opens their eyes to the realization to adult society. They react by trusting their own judgement; not conforming to the adult society that betrays…

<br>That is how the word prophet is defined in Webster's dictionary, but a prophet is much more. A prophet is someone who is chosen by God to convey his message to the people; a middleman between God and his people. A prophet is someone who God selects as the embodiment of himself. Someone that people will listen to. Someone with a presence. Now the prophets did not all lead perfect lives, but they all had a bond with the Lord that could not be matched. The Prophets were holy people but they were in no way God-like. They were humble people that gladly served their God. This summary of a prophet is what most people believe the prophet Obadiah was like.…

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.” - NKJV…
