MaryAnn ran away to a neighborhood, of crime and poverty, old run down wood houses and drugs, prostitutes. Most of the children living with moms on crack cocaine . MaryAnn found other girls, in the same predicament, the only difference is that they were living with their birth mom. MaryAnn was finally welcomed in one of the houses where the child had to be the adult in the home. The oldest child had to take care of her younger sibling. The only thing her new friend’s mama did was get high and leaves with her boyfriend for days, and then come back and lay around the house with him. MaryAnn’s new friend is 17 years old a drop out because she has to take care of her 2 younger siblings, making sure DCF wasn’t coming around snooping in their business. Later that day, MaryAnn was lying on the living room couch, it was about 2 am, she heard a noise, of people talking, she jumped up, screaming in a panic voice, everybody in the living room looked at her as if she was going crazy.
