Marshmallow Challenge
Over so many assignments I could've chose, I chose this one which is the marshmallow challenge. I chose this one to share because it was the first project my teammates and I did in the beginning of the year and we worked so hard on it to try and get an “A”. And to get that grade Mr. Lopez asked me to build a tower with my teammates and the biggest tower from the class will get a candy . The expectation was to build the largest tower using spaghetti sticks and tape, with a marshmallow on top of the tower. The goal of the assignment was to introduce our jobs which are Lead Scientist builds the project with the help of everyone, Project Manager begins discussion and keeps team members on task, Administrative assistance reads instructions to the team, Civil and Structural engineer checks all the sketches, Material Engineer gathers all the material, and Facilitating from all those jobs I was the project manager and the civil and …show more content…
I talked to my teammates and we came up with ideas of how it would be better for us to build the tower. We wanted the tower to be easy and functional we wanted it to look hard to make and we also wanted it to work. At last we decided that we were going to make the tower like the tower from paris and on top we were going to make a box with the spaghetti and the tape, and that box would hold the marshmallow. Not just that we also made some certain changes in the tower so it would last on holding the marshmallow. The biggest challenge was to make the tower because it had to hold the marshmellow and the tower was made out of spaghetti and tape it was a hard challenge but me and my team did it. We completed the work in Mr. Lopez classroom which we had to complete it in one day. I expected to do good on this project because every partner in my group did their job and were helping each other. After all it turned out to be a good challenge and my team and I got an

    * The main problem I encountered while building my project was how to get the wheels off of a toy truck. I solved this problem with the aid of Mr. Farrand, 3 pairs of pliers, some very strong scissors, and a hammer. =] The other problem I encountered was that the wheels fell off after every test run. I solved this problem by simply gluing the wheels back on.…

The project and paperwork doesn’t have to be completed until the scout’s 18th birthday, which isn’t until February, but I had to get the tower up before the birds came back from migration, and with an early spring this year, I was under quite a bit of pressure. I am glad to finally be done, and beyond grateful to all the people who helped me: Mrs. Judy Semroc for starting the idea, support from Mr. Dan Best with the Geauga Park District and Mrs. Jamey Emmert with the ODNR for information about chimney swifts, Mrs. Marilyn Rohr for providing the book with directions on how to build the tower and encouraging me along the way, Mr. Adam Hollobaugh for representing the NWTF, Mrs. Carrie Burke and Mr. Frank Willis from Home Depot for helping me cut the large plywood sheets, Mr. Chris May and his son for helping me screw the plate to the building, Sarah Eisenhart, Jamie Fowle, Connor Prusha, and Drew Cressman for helping me paint the pieces, Nick Schragal, Alex Schragal, and Kyle Gessel for helping me install the tower, and of course, my parents, for believing in me and especially my dad for lending so much time and his knowledge about building…

How you make these structures is much like how you make things in real life. You need tools and resources. You use the wood from trees to make tools and then you mine underground and start looking through caves for resources. As you go deeper you’ll find rarer resources which you can upgrade your tools with or make structures with. And when you have the resources you need, like Legos, you start putting them all together and start making anything your heart desires. You…

“The winner of the Tom & Eddie’s burger challenge was…The Krunch Burger!” A smile slowly expanded on my face, and as I looked around the classroom. All of us had huge, goofy grins, and we had every right to look this way. Our burger had just won in a competition against five other Introduction to Business classes. As a reward, not only did we get to stay on the menu, but the experience from obtaining the prize was irreplaceable.…

    Truss Bridge History

I think that the toothpick bridge project is a way of us students to learn what it is like to understand bridges and the forms and sizes they have. From this project I can learn about how the truss bridge really works and also see how much it can carry. Knowing about bridges can help a lot in geometry because bridges consist of shapes and measurements. Maybe one day we have to do a bridge project there and luckily for me I would already know about…

I recall managing a project to validate software for a simulations program used to analyze the risk associated with maintaining the safe operation of a nuclear power plant. My team was comprised of two nuclear engineers, an onsite contractor, an offsite programmer and an IT manager. As the project progressed I assigned plant operators to perform user acceptance tests. Everyone on this team was vested in the success of the project. I did not need to motivate them as a leader does. When…

The assignments we are challenging in their own different way. For the rhetorical analysis, finding a technical document for actuarial science was extremely challenging. Outside of finding it, writing was straightforward. For the resume assignment, adjusting it for specific jobs will definitely help next year when looking for jobs and adjusting my resume for specific companies. The teamwork projects including the instruction set and recommendation report helped me learn how to communicate with team members much more effectively and setting up meetings better. I really enjoyed working with my team members and learning how to work on a paper collaboratively and make sure everyone is on the same page writing in the same style producing the same message. It was also a challenge to figure out how to present our reports as we all had different ideas. Trying to decide which would be the best was a big challenge, but voting seemed to be the best way to go about it.…
