A leader is not a title earned for the sole purpose of bettering one’s position in society. After all, one cannot ordain themselves a leader, they must demonstrate themselves to be one to their peers and to themselves. Being a leader involves…
I believe I am missing information for Anthem HIX group product. I know the last update for Anthem excluded the group plan and the MD and midlevel fees were calculated at 90% of the commercial fees we have on file. Do we continue to use the current group plan fees on file or should I request an updated fee schedule for the group plan?…
Everyone has some leadership quality to them, large or small. To be a leader that people want to be like takes more, I’ve learned this through experience and the leadership group I’ve been apart of the past two years. Doing the right thing, promoting the school, having a positive attitude, and many other things go into being a leader. Leadership…
I learned that you don’t have to show your authority and that you don’t have to be controlling to be a good leader. To be an effective leader, you have to be able to talk to people and be able to connect to the people you are working with. Letting everyone have a say in whatever decision needs to be made is a great way to get everyone feeling empowered and important. Depending on the type of team you have and the type of people you are working with lets you know what type of leadership style to use. Since our team was very self-motivated and productive, we didn’t have to rely on the leader telling us what to do. He would let the group know what the current situation was and asked how we should go about it. This really helped us to have our own opinions and voice and it worked out well for us.…
In my opinion, I was a successful leader this year and I qualify again this year. During the whole year I worked hard in my position as a leader and had the motivation to continue pushing myself to reach perfection. Also, during marching season I maintained a positive attitude and pushed my section to be the best group that they can be in marching band. I practiced my music and marching outside of rehearsals so that we could spend more learning time as a whole; along with this I encouraged my section to do the same and ensured that they were achieving at a higher level each practice. When it came time to do pass-offs I was the person that new their part. Whenever, others were nervous to do pass- offs, needed reassurance during practicing or needed the extra push be successful I was there every day helping them: during lunch, after school, on the weekends and even on the phone. I would work hard to stand up and help to the best of my ability even…
From working on these three assignments over the past few weeks, I learned a great deal of information dealing with some issues pertaining to both One-Mile and the Chico Co-op. From doing research on One-Mile, I learned that there are a lot of problems concerning the homeless issue and cleanliness of the park. The issues dealing with the Co-op were mostly centered around their relocation situation. At the moment, relocation is the Co-op’s main goal but they are experiencing problems with finding the ideal, sustainable location that will keep their users satisfied. Finding out the specifics of these problems was quite challenging. I had to look into each source even further to find more information with both place’s problems. The research methods…
I am a leader. I have all the qualities that make a great leader, but I was not born this way.Experiences and how someone reacts to those experiences are what truly make a leader. One of the most influential experiences I have gone through is called the Lebanon High School Marching Band. I am certain that I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for marching band. Before coming to high school I already had leadership qualities, but band helped bring all those great qualities together and helped me get past my two major flaws: my lack of self-confidence and the fact that I was probably one of the shyest people you would EVER meet. When I joined marching band, I spent most of my waking hours sweating and suffering alongside wonderful people that I longed to…
To me, leadership is leading by example. My years in high school have shown me that the person who builds people up, and shows kindness is more of a leader than someone who commands and controls people. I strive to be this kind, caring person who others can look up to. As I grow older, I hope that by doing the right things, I can inspire others to do the same.…
My experience with being a leader in the groups that we did was a great learning experience. I learned a lot not only about myself, but also about what it is like to be the leader of a group. Leading a group was harder than I thought it would be and knowing how to start, what activities or techniques to use and what to say or do next was also harder than I thought.…
Throughout my experiences, I have gained insight into what makes an effective and respected leader. Correspondingly, I have learned that maintaining group focus while avoiding dominating every decision is vital to have fruitful administrative endeavors. Being a youth representative for my church and a volunteer coordinator for my school’s chapter of National Honor Society have required efficient uses of my leadership skills. As I continue through life, I hope to foster my leadership abilities and use them to unite people and attain our mission.…
Each time I moved I had to start as a ‘newbie’, which prevented me from obtaining a leadership position. However, I still used the qualities of a leader to help the freshmen with their marching technique and memorizing their music. I also assisted my section leader and drum major when possible, tidying the band room after a competition, or passing out water at performances.…
Fortunate enough for me, marching band taught me how to be an effective leader. After a few years in marching band, I was chosen to be the section leader of the trumpets. A position of this magnitude requires a great deal of leadership abilities, abilities at which I was not yet very proficient. In the marching band at my high school, we had an assistant band instructor who is in the Army National Guard and an assistant technician who is a former Marine. With these two around, our band operated in a very strict manner. At first this seemed to be a bad thing because the level of intensity that was expected of us as members was extremely high. Now, looking back at my experiences, I am able to appreciate what these two gentlemen provided me. In my first year as section leader, the former marine held a three-day mini leadership camp. This camp was the groundwork for my leadership journey. I learned valuable leadership skills that I still use…
Being in the Collingswood HS Marching Band for five years has put me in the position of being an example to the younger members. I have learned that patience, and perseverance are valued qualities in a leader. When helping a new member of my section in the band this year, I had to be patient with her so that she would be able to be able to contribute positively to the performance. Also, when time management between school, band, and other responsibilities have weighed heavily on me, I have…
A good leader has a great vision. They must have confidence in their leadership and must be able to use the authority they have. If the leader can’t handle his/her power, they shouldn’t be in charge. The leader shouldn’t abuse his/her power, but she shouldn’t be too lenient, either. A leader needs the initiative to get things done. As a leader, I believe you are a role model to all the members in the group, not only the new members but also to the veterans. Section leaders have a great deal of responsibility. Their part is to keep things on track so everyone doesn't go off and do their own thing. When someone looks at a group, they are often judged by their leader. The behavior of a leader reflects on the entire group, so that person must be disciplined and have a good character. It is very important that a section leader maintains a sense of unity in the marching band. I don't believe it's right for a leader to only look at their section. They have to make sure that the members of their section realize that they are just as important as any other section of the marching band. We have to be able to stand as one. Because when we are on that field performing, the judges are looking at us a whole. When we get off that field, the audience cheers us off as a whole, not as different sections of a group.…
In the past, I have demonstrated leadership as both the assistant manager of a frozen yogurt shop and as a leader in the University Honors Program as a member of the Honors Student Council. I have also exhibited leadership throughout my academic and sports career by acting as a role model for my peers and leading by example. As a leader, I know that I do not need to be the most vocal, and instead understand that I should set the standard for my peers to follow. My past leadership…
