Malala Yousafzai: A Modern Day Hero
Throughout time, epic heroes recurred in myths and ancient stories and they embodied the characteristics of bravery, a great leader, and often time on a quest to find great values for him or his people. Odysseus, the main character from Homer’s epic poems, symbolized all of the following traits as an epic hero. The hero is also, in many ways, similar to an ordinary person and must undertake the journey and obstacles along the way. In the modern day, Malala Yousafzai is considered a modern day hero with the same qualities as Odysseus. They were both identified as brave leaders, undertake extraordinary journeys, and embodies the highest value of a culture.
