This caused women who have a fuller image to think that their body is not considered as beautiful and desirable by the society. (Arroyo 247).
Other than magazines and other ways of advertisement, fashion industry is focuses on the thin body images by the fashion designers themselves. Nancy Rudd claim “through professionals in the fashion industry have commonly been identified as a main disseminator of the thin body ideal.” Students are taught to make their design focusing on people with ideal body image and taught that the market for the plus- sized society is not profitable and that it limits their creativity if they are designing for plus sized people.
Even though the issue of introducing thin body as the ideal image through the fashion industry still did not get a solution, some models like Ashley Graham broke the boundary and appeared on TV and fashion shows to let people know that plus sizes models are beautiful too and that fashion is not only for thin models. According to Susan et al, Graham claims that “‘I’ve had success in breaking the mold in the fashion industry…my hot body. It sounds a little misogynistic, but I also think that it’s great because I have a body that the average-size American woman has. And I’m using it to let other women know that you are beautiful.’” (64)
