Lystra Research Paper
One of the stops on Paul’s missionary journey was Lystra. He stopped here and spent some time on his trip. He also revisited Lystra on his return trip home. The story of Paul’s first stop in Lystra is found in Acts 14:8-20. The bible tells us in acts of a man that had been a cripple from his mother’s womb and had never walked. The site of Lystra is believed to be located 19 miles south of Iconium, another city Paul visited. Paul came here to preach the gospel. Paul healed a man here, and he probably healed this man as he was sitting on the street or in the market because there is no mention of a synagogue. The crowd responded to the healing by going into a mob-like frenzy. They started worshipping Paul and Barnabas. They called

In 2004 a group of scientists found the partial skeleton of a new human species we had never seen before. Researchers called the remains LB1, also nicknamed the hobbit due to its small size. It was first believed that this new species, Homo floresiensis, was a descendent of Homo erectus that had simply dwarfed over time due to limited access to resources. However, newer studies have highlighted some of the more primitive characteristics of LB1, which lead scientists to believe that the hobbits branched off from the human family tree much earlier than previously thought.…

Hermia is told by her father that by the law of Athens she must ‘wed Demetrius’. The law stated that if a father chose his daughter a husband, then she must marry him regardless of love. Daughters were expected to dote on their fathers because they legally belong to men and everything they owned belonged to the man they were owed by. Hermia is prepared to disobey the law to marry Lysander, who is seen by Egeus (Hermia’s father) as having stolen her heart by ‘feigning love’. Disobeying your father resulted in a punishment of death, which Egeus has no problem coming of terms with. It is evident that Hermia loves Lysander as she is willing to risk her life and her relationship with her father to be with him instead of marrying another man. She would rather be with the man she loves and die than to be with Demetrius and be accepted by her father and law.…
