Love Hurts By The Everly Brothers
"Love Hurts" is a song, written and composed by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant. First recorded by The Everly Brothers in July 1960, the song is also well known from a 1975 international hit version by the rock band Nazareth and in the UK by a top 5 hit in 1975 by Jim Capaldi.

The song was introduced in December 1960 as an album track on A Date with The Everly Brothers, but was never released as a single (A-side or B-side) by the Everlys. The first hit version of the song was by Roy Orbison, who earned Australian radio play, hitting the Top Five of that country's singles charts in 1961. A recording by Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons was included on Parsons' posthumously released Grievous Angel album. After Parsons' 1973 death, Harris made the

And the stronger the love, the more that pain, but love bears all things. Love itself is a pain, you might say, but is the pain of being truly alive," says Joseph Campbell. this to me means that with love comes dangers of pain. Inside each one of us as we love a hypothetical fire burns. This fire so to speak is our passionate needs for this other person. Though this person helps us keep the fire tame, they also can send it into a blazing whirlwind deep inside of us. So basically its like a double edged knife. Sure you can hold it and touch the dull or sharpened side but that doesn't mean you won't get cut.…

At the beginning of the novel, from the reader’s perspective Spicer gives the impression of being a young boy, in particular with his refusal to eat after they have murdered Hale. “I’ll be sick...if I eat” The Boy then responds with “Spew then”, this suggests that Spicer has a weakness especially within the group. As well as this it implies that Spicer regrets or feels a large amount of emotion towards the act they have just committed unlike Pinkie who seems totally unfazed. However, as the book continues we learn that Spicer is an older man as we are told of his “spots” that appear as well as “upset...bowels”, his “carroty” hair and his “scarred” nose. The sympathy the reader felt before then changes to loathing, as these new descriptions create an unattractive image for the reader. As well as this his earlier weakness now comes across as spineless and almost pathetic. We also learn that Spicer used to be a Jew “but a hairdresser and surgeon had altered that”. This reiterates the point that Spicer is spineless as he can’t even stand by his religion unlike Pinkie who has very strong religious views.…

Can’t Buy Me Love by The Beatles demonstrates Elizabeth Bennet rejection to Mr. Collins. In Chapter 19, Mr. Collins comes to the Bennets' estate to ask Elizabeth Bennet to be his wife. Unfortunately, he picked the one daughter who was most likely to disrespect his proposal, because his proposal was pictured as a “business offer” rather than a “marriage proposal”.…

A long time ago the difference between perception and reality was defined as the act of understanding in contrast to the act of being real. Reality could be tricky; most of us including myself depending on scenarios of our lives tend to give in to ideas which are not applicable to reality as a whole. The best example of this is written in the short story “All Over” by Guy de Maupassant. In which his main character Lormerin is very self conscious and narcissistic also Lise de Vance, a former old love plays a big role in hurting Lormerin ego and opening his eyes by showing him, his real self. Many would say that when reality knocks it could be harsh and confusing. In the next couple of paragraphs I want to show how my understanding of reality can be applied to the short story previously mentioned. Every day life brings so many unexpected moments of which we dream of but never really happen, this is where we draw the line for reality and perception of a perfect to be situation. Reality is in the eyes of the beholder and no one can really change that, all of us are born dreamers. When things get out of hand and reality hits, this is where people suffer. Why do we suffer? We suffer because we give too much or expect too much and not everyone has the same ideals when returning the favor. Also, some events might be trifling to some but extremely important to others.…

The main love themes in the play, Much Ado About Nothing, can be considered as based on "The Game Of Love." Two themes in the plot are examples of this and they are: the situation where Don Pedro, Claudio and Leonardo are speaking loudly of a love possessed by Beatrice for Benedick, and overheard by Benedick (who had promised himself a life of bachelorhood) who consequently falls in deep love with Beatrice; and the situation where Don John (who gets a thrill from ruining the love between two people) plans the illusion of Hero acting in an unfaithful manner the night before her wedding.…

We are set to believe that when making life changing decisions it would only affect yourself, but we have become more aware that the decisions we often make are forced to create changes and effect everyone, including your loved ones. In this case, in the story Girl with the Pearl Earring, we distinguish that one life changing decision not only affected the protagonist, Griet, but also her parents and her siblings. Griet, a sixteen-year old girl living with her family in Delft in 1664 was forced to become a maid due to her father having a recent accident in which he is unable to work. This caused Griet to move out of her home and live with her new owner Vermeer, where she’ll live and be their maid. Since the accident and Griet’s employment in…

World War I brought a new era of wars of attrition wounding and killing millions. These horrific battles were fought by mere teenagers, who had to grow up in a matter of months, and went from being children to desensitized men. This desensitization was necessary for the boys to stay sane through all the death and destruction around them. These men needed to seem tough, so they acted stronger then they were. The poem “Pluck” by Eva Dobell portrays the horrifying loss of innocence that many young soldiers endured during The Great War by her use of comparative stanzas, contrasting imagery, and alliteration.…

In his poem “Consolation,” Billy Collins attempts to comfort himself after not being able to visit Italy in the following summer. He creates a “consolation” for himself by listing all of the downsides to travelling to another country so filled with history and culture. However, his tone makes it seem as though he is unsuccessful at convincing himself that staying at home is actually a good thing. The reader can tell that he is actually disconsolate, that his efforts were in vain.…

When prompted about a song that was important to me in high school, one song in particular comes to mind: “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” by Green Day. Almost anyone who has contemplated the length and depth of life can relate to this gentle song with its slow, almost yearning tone and deep lyrics. To me, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” is a timeless ballad that never fails to comfort me in times of change and confusion. This song should be included in the “History of Popular Music, 1950-Present” course, not only because its deviation from normal punk rock epitomizes the struggle that Green Day faced in order to find its own sound, but also because Green Day has influenced a number of artists and epitomizes pop punk at the beginning of the 21st century.…

Gradually, the sweet red wine has become "like morning bread", "smooth and pleasant". The taste of the bread is familiar and the poetess hardly tastes it. Nevertheless, she is completely nourished. Morning bread is something vital for our everyday nutrition. It is an invaluable article of food and keeps us full and nourished. We need it every day and a meal is incomplete without it. So, now the lover is essential to the other's life. Life cannot exist without him. Perhaps the passion and the…

What is happiness? Different people have different definitions of happiness. For children, happiness is the satisfaction of receiving candies or toys. For adults, happiness is a good job or happy family. For Naomi Shihab Nye, happiness in a poem “So Much Happiness” is something else that not only can sing but also can be felt by touching. Due to the flow of this poem, dramatic situation, image, and syntax are three important elements that strongly demonstrate a different perspective of the author on happiness.…
