Lord Of The Flies Reflective Essay

This journal will be reflecting on my experiences from the past two years of high school English. There were quite a few parts of the curriculum that interested me and units of study that I enjoyed. Within those two years, I have learnt what learning strategies and what methods of planning have and haven’t worked for me. Based on what I learnt about my abilities in English in grade 9 and 10, I have made goals that I’d like to reach by the end of this semester. There were a few parts of the curriculum and units of study on grade 10 that really interested me. I really liked reading Lord of the Flies by William Golding because it makes the reader dig deeper into the story, rather than accepting the story line as it is. I also liked reading Romeo and Juliet and watching the mini parodies because it was interesting to see the contrast of perspectives for that singular play. What I also liked about Romeo and Juliet by
William Shakespeare was that there were so many perspectives on what the play was really about. Some believed that the play was about how intense love can be and others believed that it was a mockery of young love.
I have learnt that just listening to whatever it is we are talking about or reading has been very useful because it makes remembering the content easier. I have also found that I am better at writing assignments with a very specific structure. Structures such as SEEEC and introduction, 3 body paragraphs, and conclusion help me a lot when writing because it allows you to know exactly what you have to write next without having to figure out what goes in between. I also have found that highlighting my notes is very effective because it makes it easy to find the main points quickly when going back to it.
