Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis
“Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist” Pablo Picasso. This

quote is important to my essay as of how the same situation happens in the novel. In

the story there is one leader and there is one boy that hates the leader this makes him

learn his rules and then make his own rules and makes everyone join his group. The

Author made this happen in the story because of all the war that was happening and

how the book was called lord of the flies. This happens with Ralph as the leader of the

clan and how he was telling the rules until jack made his own clan and how without

rules civilization quickly turns into savagery. In the novel Lord Of The Flies Ralph shows

that when the boys disrespect the rules

In conclusion Ralph will not let anyone turn into savages and make them follow

his rules. In addition if the boys disrespect the rules all savageness breaks loose

amongst the all. Simon broke the rules and he turned into a savage and saying to “ kill

the beast, cut his throat spill his blood as he was killing simon” (168). This quote shows

that how Jack split up from the group he is now a cold blooded savage and will kill

anything in his way. He turned this way as he did not want to follow anymore rules from

Ralph and left the group making his own. This then made his group start go against

Ralph's group and started killing them one by one. Roger then pushed a giant boulder

down a hill that struck “Piggy with a glancing blow from chin to knee” (200). This quote

shows how that since no more rules were established there will be death around every

corner as of no rules. Then as of no orders this happens everyday and there is no

civilization. Lastly if there are no orders then anything could happen. This then makes

Ralph “blow the conch and if they don't come back then we've had it we shan't keep the

fire going we'll be like animals and never be rescued” (99). In this quote Ralph

In this passage the “hunters”, which is a group of boys that Jack Merridew is in charge of, let out the fire that they were supposed to be keeping watch of. The fire was the only thing that showed others that there is people on the island, that was their only way home. The fire seemed to almost be a sense of relief, just knowing that they have a way to signal others, and to show they were alive. When Ralph, the chief of the group, finds out about the fire he gets angry and frustrated because that was their only job and they failed.…

Ralph was one of the schoolboys who became chief of the civilization by vote because he possessed a conch and the kids saw it as a symbol of order and power. He represented leadership and demonstrated common sense. He was the one who thought of the meeting place, the signal fire, and shelters. But the main antagonist, Jack, leader of the choirboys, disapproved of the votes and thought he should be chief because he craved control and wanted to lead both his choir and the group.…

Towards the middle of Simon’s stay on the island, he started to realize that he truly was different from the others. Every time he tried to talk to the other children, his “effort fell about him in ruins; the laughter beat him cruelly and he shrank away defenseless to his seat.”(89) Just when he thought he had been accepted he embarrassed himself again, “When he bashed into a tree Ralph looked sideways impatiently and Robert sniggered.”(104) They were getting restless with his behavior.…

Jack explains “Next time there will be no mercy” (Golding 31). Golding added “he looked around fiercely, daring them to contradict” (Golding 31). Jack tells that next time he will stop at nothing to prove to the rest what he is capable of. As a game all of the boys start playing that they are killing a pig; however, when the kids become overwhelmed they end up killing Simon. The boys chant “kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!” (Golding 152). The boys chanting in the circle gradually become blood thirsty as they pretend to kill the “pig”. They kill Simon when he crawls into the circle for his turn to be pig. Because Jack has a desire for blood he shows no attempt to stop the boys from tearing Simon apart. Once He killed Piggy, Jack realized that he had the ultimate power of the island. Jack then screamed “see? See? That’s what you’ll get! I meant that! There isn’t a tribe for you anymore!”(Golding 181). Warning Ralph that he is next to die and that the hunt for him is on. It is very clear to Roger and Jack that they can eliminate their threat, Ralph, from the island due to their power over the tribe of choir…

Ralph is the last one left who still has a sense of order and is being hunted by the others for not agreeing with their ways: “But then the fatal unreasoning knowledge came to him again. The breaking of the conch and the deaths of Piggy and Simon lay over the island like a vapour. These painted savages would go further and further” (204). He experiences bad thoughts regarding his survival and develops a sense of hopelessness and futility. Ralph, slowly losing his own sanity and at the loss of Piggy and Simon there to induce good thoughts, is left to hide and attack the others for his own…

One of Jack’s strategies to make the boys feel braver was that he created the death chant, “kill the beast, cut his throat, spill his blood.” Also Jack created the dance where a boy pretended to be a pig while all the other boys stood around him and pretended to spear him to death. It was in the middle of this crazed dance that Simon stumbled out from the jungle and all the boys fell upon him and killed him.…
