Lord Capulet In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet is a play about 2 star-crossed lovers from the rival families, Capulet and Montague. The two families are always fighting and brawling on the streets of Verona. When Romeo is banished for killing Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin, they create a daring plan to get themselves to Mantua, where they will happily live out their lives together. Sadly, the plan goes terribly wrong and Romeo and Juliet both end up dead in the Capulet Tomb. I believe that Lord Capulet, Juliet’s ostentatious father is entirely to blame for the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet. His actions sent them down on the path that eventually ended in death and anguish. If Lord Capulet had made different decisions Romeo and Juliet might have still been alive at the end of the play.
You can argue that Lord Capulet was entirely responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. In Act 1 Scene 5, Lord Capulet decides to throw a banquet to socialize and appease all of his family and friends. Capulet says “ You are welcome, gentlemen! Come musicians, play”. This quote shows that Lord Capulet was boasting to all of his friends that they should be happy that he is throwing this party and entertaining them. He only threw the party for his own selfish reasons.

Lord Capulet controlled all of Juliet’s life but that backfired on him and it eventually ended up with Romeo and Juliet dead. By having Lord Capulet, who controlled all of Juliet’s life, mess up and ultimately cause their death, Shakespeare showed that parents should not control all aspects of their children’s life because it will ultimately backfire on them and bad things will happen like the children trying to pull

In the play Romeo and Juliet, I think that Lord Capulet is the person most responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet. To start, Lord Capulet forced Juliet to marry Paris, a man she did not want to marry because she did not love him and she was already married to Romeo. “...An you be not, hang, beg, starve, die in the streets,/ For my soul, I’ll ne’er acknowledge thee,...”-Capulet ( 3.5.220-221).Lord Capulet says this after Juliet shows she is not happy about marrying Paris. Not only the Nurse and Friar Lawrence was at fault for the death of Romeo and Juliet but also Capulet. This is because of his actions towards Juliet and his character. His character changes from being a nice, polite and caring father whereas after the death of Tybalt, he becomes this angry typical type father. Not knowing how Juliet truly feels, he forces her to get married to Paris even though she didn’t want to. He made her feel pressurized and also made her feel scared of what was going to happen next. He made her feel trap like she doesn’t have a choice to weather to marry him or not. Therefore, he should also be blamed for the death of Romeo and Juliet.…

Lady and Lord Capulet are most responsible for the tragic ending of Romeo and Juliet because of their jealous tendencies. Uncommon to what most people believe, jealousy is not the same thing as envy “Jealousy is that unpleasant emotion you feel when you think someone’s trying to take what’s yours. [...] jealousy is called the green-eyed monster because it can make people obsessed with how they compare to others, always trying to beat their rivals by calling attention to what they have and seeing if the rivals have any reaction”. The Capulets don’t want something that the Montagues have; yet they feel threatened that the Montagues are trying to take something they have.
