Little Tramp Sociology Study Guide
In the film, it is shown that industrial work is really monotone, doing the same job over and over, having the exact time of the break, and going back to work. By just observing it, it’s pretty understandable for Charlie to get bored. I also believe that kind of job will pay a little check too, especially in the great depression era. Like I studied in operating management class, one small mistake can cause all production stopped, like the scene where Charlie was dozed off and the manager has to stop the machine and start over. This can cause a pressure and no wonder most of the workers are grumpy and getting mental disorders.

2. What about crime? At several points, the Little Tramp is arrested. How does this intersect with the economy?

There are comparatively few rules to violate, and people are socialized into long standing traditions in a communal society. Because associated societies are complex, they require many laws and rules. Also, they are impersonal, and tradition is not adequate to prevent deviance. However, many associational societies are diverse, and the mix of ethnicities, language, and regional differences requires coordination, which in turn requires laws and rules. The focus in an associational society is on the offender when determining suitable punishment, while command societies pay more attention to the victim. This is why communal societies are the most likely to use a restorative rationale in determining punishment.…

In “Anybody’s Son Will Do” by Dyer we encounter a different chaos and a different method of routinization. The 18-year-old boys that enroll in the U.S. Marine Corps all come from different backgrounds, different beliefs, and enlist for different reasons. When they first arrive it is a frenzy of testosterone, but the drill instructors know exactly how to tame and conform the recruits before they even have a moment to themselves. They use the strategy of stripping down the recruits inside and out in order to rebuild…

Sociology is the study of the society and the way people interact within it. The field of sociology and trying to study and understand it is very complicating due to the fact that it is such a wide topic. Feelings change along people and nobody can truly explain why people do the things they do. A student attempting suicide out of nowhere is unexplainable or even a random divorce. The unexplainable minds of people and random occurrences really interests me into pursuing this field.…
