Literary Analysis It is important to understand that some conflicts in literature might not always be obvious. Considering how an author addresses conflict via literary techniques can reveal other more complex conflicts or different kinds of conflicts that interact in multiple ways. Analyzing those more complicated elements can help discover what literature represents about the human experience and condition. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast the poem of Juan Delgado and the story of Tim O’Brien. The conflict identified in the story “The things they carried” by Tim O’Brien and “A Point West of San Bernardino” by Juan Delgado centers on the struggle people can go through while trying to live in the world. Which represents in some cases how we see the world and what we carry along with us, showing that humans there are many things that we carry with us that we don’t pay any attention to unless we are forced to. Clugston stated, “Conflict is the struggle that shapes the plot in a story (Clugston, 2014).” …show more content…
In Delgado’s poem he is using illustrations of empty bags blowing down the street to show how the environment and a person surroundings is playing a part on how we cope with life to reveal how fragile one really is.
