I love when I receive handouts and diagrams. After taking this quiz I have learned that I am more of a kinesthetic learner. I always have to be hands on and doing something. What I mean by this is when I am studying I am either moving in my chair or I am using my finger as a reading guide. I always thought that it was just my ADHD that made me do this but now I have learned that it is a way of learning.…

Answering the questions from the Learning Style Inventory I established that my learning style is visual. This did not surprise me for I tend to remember faces rather than names and remembering information is vital when I have a textbook, visual aids, and written information (Bethel University, 2013, p. 19). Being a visual learner indicates that I learn with my eyes to retain the knowledge needed. This perhaps is beneficial because it requires me to understand my learning abilities to succeed in any aspect in life. In my personal and professional life being a visual learner provides me the ability to learn challenging and difficult tasks and skills. Taking on a class or subject would be simple by knowing that visual learners operate by observing…

Diane Ravitch, a historian of education, voiced, “sometimes the most brilliant and intelligent students do not shine in standardized tests because they do not have standardized minds.” It is recognized that children have diverse learning types, rates and testing capabilities. In the New York Times article What’s Your Learning Style, Janet Nelson, the author articulated, “Instructors have turned to a kinder school of thought: people learn in many different ways, and it's up to teachers to tailor the lesson to the student.” With this being said, there is no possibility that standardized tests can be best suited for all students across the nation. With this considered, standardized testing should not partake as a immense impact on teaching because…

I can concentrate and focus best on what I am supposed to write. It is where I can picture things in my head and where I can just let my mind roam freely until the ideas comes to me. I also agree that I am more of a pragmatic learner than a creative one because I mostly learn through taking down information step by step. In other words, I use a “structured” kind of study environment where I generate a list of either steps, rules, processes, or procedures on how to study a certain material. I am also an emotional learner because I focus more on writing about personal response or certain material that…

From the first website about investigating learning styles I found that I learn best with visuals and interactive experience. After I took the DVC Learning Styles Inventory test, my results concluded that I am a visual/nonverbal, auditory, and kinesthetic learner. My visual/nonverbal learning results suggest that I write down a summary after a lecture. I will retain information much better by writing down notes rather than memorizing the lecture. As an auditory learner, I should read out loud flash cards or information that I need to memorize. I currently use this learning strategy to prepare myself for class. For example, for my chemistry class I have note cards that I read out loud to help me remember key terms. The results as a kinesthetic learner suggest I use the computer to reinforce learning through the sense of touch. I should type out important information from my notes on to a Word document. By changing my study habits to fit my learning style, I will become a better student throughout college.…
