But to become a leader someone must first attain the necessary skills. Such skills include: Delegation, Problem solving skills, Decision making, Accountability, Communication, Negotiating, The ability to unite people, etc. The book Lord of The Flies by William Golding displays many of these skills. Everyone needs leadership skills.
Unity
One of the most important skills of a leader would be, the ability to unite people. If someone cannot get a group of people to set aside their differences and work together then nothing would get done. The group would just be fighting the whole time. For example in the book Lord of The Flies Ralph cannot get the group to join forces to get shelters built. Therefore, him and one other

For example, in Lord of The Flies the group of hunters go out hunting, but they leave no one to watch the fire. Therefore, the fire went out and a ship went by the island but passed them because there was not anything to make a signal. This infuriated Ralph and the others so Ralph told the group of hunters that letting the fire go out was irresponsible, and cost them a chance at getting rescued. (Golding, pg. 66-72)

There are five leadership skills that are essential to acquire as a leader. These skills can help overcome complicated problems and issues that a leader could face on a daily basis. Skills such as collaboration rather than heroics and building and mending relationships; these can help with learning different ways to approach others in the organization as well as engage and motivate. Choosing the way to manage between being heroic and being engaging will determine what type of a leader one is going to grow into. Change also involves relationships, and maintaining a good relationship with others in the workplace is not an easy task. However, the task becomes easier when one tries to learn about what others enjoy, what they strive in, and by taking this information and analyzing it, the leader can find ways to build the relationship and fuel the relationship, come up with new ideas for building relationships, etc.…

“His first words were a gasp, but audible. ‘-Calling an assembly’.” A good leader is someone who is fair, organized, can plan, has patience, and has stoicism. Ralph in Lord of the Flies by William Golding exemplifies these qualities of a leader. A leader is important because without them the group of boys may not have found each other in the beginning of the book and would not have worked together to make shelter and find food. Without a leader, assuming the boys still met, the group would have been in utter chaos. A leader is one who can keep the group together and has the groups’ best interest in mind at all times. By allowing everyone to keep their freedoms, having necessary tasks completed, and giving security Ralph was proven a successful…

Imagine a world without leadership and order. One that wasn’t civilized, had no control. Such a world would be classified as savage at the very least. Ralph represents this leadership and order in the boys’ new world on the island. When he loses his ability to stay sane and keep order, everything turns for worse. Golding portrays the importance in control and advantageous leadership through the protagonist, Ralph in the novel Lord of The Flies by illustrating him as a natural leader, then having him shift into an uncivilized animal whose losing control.…

It is difficult to pick the right leader when you are stranded on an island all alone and you are twelve or younger years old. In William Golding’s novel Lord of the Files, the young boys have to make this decision. The leader on this island shouldn’t be just one boy. It would be best for the kids to pick two boys to lead their pack. Piggy and Ralph are perfect examples of kids who should be co-leaders. The boys might not have thought about it, but it should be both of them for multiple reasons. First, these two boys work really well together together. Piggy and Ralph have worked well together since they found the conch in the beginning of the book. Also, the two boys have the same goal. They want to get off the island as soon as they can.…

There are always people who come out with better qualities to be a leader than others. The strongest people however, usually become the greater influences in which the others decide to follow. However, sometimes the strongest person is not the best choice. In William Golding's novel, “Lord of the Flies” Ralph though not the stronger person, shows better leadership qualities than Jack. Ralph displays these useful qualities as a leader by working towards building a manageable life on the island between them. He knows the boys need order so he creates rules, in order so they survive and can get along on the island. On the other hand, Jack does not treat the boys with respect and equality as Ralph does. Ralph understands that the boys have to be given respect and must be treated equally. This makes Ralph a better leader as he is able to see that he is not superior to any of the other boys. Ralph's wisdom and ability to look to the future also make him a superior leader. Ralph’s main focus is on getting off the island. He insists on keeping the fire burning as a distress signal. Ralph's leadership provides peace and order to the island while Jack's leadership makes chaos.…

Throughout the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, the reader can identify the different leadership strategies used by Jack and Ralph. There are many examples why Ralph is a more beneficial leader and influence to the tribe than Jack. Although Jack proved suitable leadership qualities at key points in the novel, the poor choices continually made by this character show the audience that with Jack as leader the tribe is not guaranteed survival. For the duration of the novel the reader can see that both boys go through certain events where leadership skills are used to make decisions for the tribe. Even though Jack is a more powerful leader and gains followers by letting everyone do whatever, Ralph makes the best influence for the tribe…

First, I learned that you have to work hard to get where you want to be. It is very hard work to be a leader and you have to be persistent. However not everyone is meant to be a leader. People should be aware of this and choose leaders for their wisdom and whether or not they attend to the needs of the people rather than choosing leaders on charisma alone. Someone might display the qualities of being a leader but be lacking in other respects. In the case of Lord of the Flies, while Jack had experience being a leader he was unfit and unable to put first things first on the island. He also did not care for the wellbeing of the other boys. While Ralph was able to maintain a democracy, Jack did not consider the needs of the group as a whole. Something important I have learned from both Robert and Lord of the Flies, is that in order to be a good leader, you must model behaviors you want others to follow and lead by example. For example, towards the end of the novel, Ralph began behaving like the other boys and playing their uncivilized games. He was no longer modeling the behavior he wanted the other boys to follow. The most important thing I have learned, however, is that in any leadership position, it is important to consider the entire team, be hardworking, and be responsible for your actions and the actions of your group. With these core values, a leader can reach their fullest…
