Lamb To The Slaughter Comparison
Have you ever seen someone killed with a lamb leg? Neither have I. “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl is the obvious choice for a movie adaptation. “Lamb to the Slaughter” will make a better and more enjoyable movie adaptation Than “The Dinner Party” by Mona Gardner, because “Lamb to the Slaughter” has a well developed main character, room for a sequel, and is a much longer story. “Lamb to the Slaughter” has a well-developed character that can and will be explored in a movie adaptation which is not present in the story “The Dinner Party”. The first piece of information we have about a character in the story is the second paragraph in the story where it states “Mary Maloney was waiting for her husband to come home from work” (Dahl 1). From this sentence, we can infer that the character is female and married. We also learn that Mary is six months pregnant from the third paragraph which states “Her skin -for this was her sixth month with child…darker than before” (Dahl 1)
This sentence also explains the reason Mary was waiting for her husband to come home is because she is a stay at home wife while she is pregnant.

“Lamb to the Slaughter” is a four page double-sided story that is very descriptive “The room was warm and clean, the curtains drawn, the two table lamps alight-hers and the one by the empty chair opposite” (Dahl 1). The story “Lamb to the Slaughter” is 3,607 words long, four pages, double sided, and is full with plenty of character dialogue and descriptive paragraphs explaining the setting and emotion for each scene in the story. This is another reason why the story “Lamb to the Slaughter” would make a better movie adaptation than the short story “The Dinner

Richard walked through the front door and shot Frank several times in front of the boys (53). In the movie, Frank was shot in the living room after coming to see if Natalie and the boys were ok after a confrontation she just had with Richard. Natalie and the boys were upstairs while Frank went downstairs to keep Richard out of the house. Richard found a way in and shot Frank several times. If I am not being forced to look twice, think, or even question my own brain capacities while reading a book the author has done something wrong. Besides all of the details that I specifically thought were intriguing, Slaughterhouse 5 as a whole was entertaining to read. Whether I would recommend the book or not is a complicated matter though because many people I have talked to about it do not seem to enjoy it therefore, it seems to be a selective taste. However, I do believe that the book makes some important points that everyone should have the chance to…

While most of us love watching films, those of us who have read the book in which a film was developed from, will most likely feel uneasy when the film does not match exactly what we read. In most cases, we feel disappointed to not see our own interpretation of the book on the screen. A film made from a book or inspired by a book is called adaptation. Many people who have read Cornell Woolrich's short story "It Had to Be Murder" and then watched Alfred Hitchcock’s film, “Rear Window,” were disappointed that the adaptation did not reflect exactly the story. That’s because, we lack the understanding that a Literature–Based film although called an adaptation is indeed a translation of the story.…
