Data
Table 1: Melting Point Data Initial Time
Final Time
Observations
Weigh Boat A 5:37 pm 7:00 pm
10 min- little puddle just started melting.
20 min- puddle under ice is a little bigger.
30 min- ice is melting more and getting a wetter appearance.
40 min- about half way melted.
50min- still slowly melting a bit more than half gone.
60 min- about a quarter of the cube remains.
70 min- a little les than a quarter remains.
83 min- cube completely melted.
Weigh Boat B 5:37 pm 6:34 pm
10 min- melting where the pile of salt is faster than A.
20 min- ice almost half way melted, especially where salt is.
30 min- most of the center of the cube is melted away.
40 min- almost all the way melted maybe a quarter of the cube left.
50 min- just about all gone small pieces remain.
57 min ice is completely melted.

Table 2: Freezing Point Data Initial Time
Final Time
Observations
Weigh Boat A 6:07 pm 7:37 pm 30 min- No change
60 min- partially frozen has ice crystals
90 min- frozen
Weigh Boat B 6:07 pm. 8:07 pm 30 min- No change
60 min- has very little ice forming
90 min- partially frozen still watery
120 min- mostly frozen

Post-lab Questions
1. Did both ice cubes melt at the same rate? Why or why not?

No the ice in tub B with the salt melted considerably faster.

2. Did both ice cubes re-freeze at the same time? Why or why not?

No the one in tub

Abstract: A 50mL (we used 100mL) volumetric flask was used to determine the amount of sugar in a can of Coke per mL in 5 different solutions. Using the calibration curve we determine the amount of sugar per mL in a can of coke. This experiment concluded that there is 43.83g of sugar in a 12oz can of Coke.…

Aim Counterfeit pharmaceuticals are a big concern regarding the issue of medicines due to fake versions containing either the wrong ingredients or inaccuracy of the active ingredient which can cause toxicity issues in patients using these products. The aim of this experiment is to find if the percentage composition of the label (50% paracetamol, 40% aspirin and 10% sucrose) matches that of the percentage composition of the powder by following 10% ranges of each component in the powder. I am going to do this via a number of methods including vacuum filtration, heating, extraction and evaporation.…

The data gathered and calculated in the experiment accurately portrayed the way the reactions would have taken place. The chloride analysis was a little bit off from other groups due to the fact that our AgCl was in clumps, creating less surface area, thus our product took longer to burn and may not have burned correctly compared to other groups; yet there are several experimental factors that could have caused us to have different results than other groups, i.e. different measurements for samples. Our sources of error could have included eye measurement error, timing of set solutions error, measurement errors, and small calculation errors. Among other variables, the calibration of the analytical balance and spectrophotometer could have been off slightly, yet our results, like most other groups, still followed the general trend line generated by the graph using Beer’s Law. The measurement errors could have occurred due to the fact that one partner’s perspective of a measurement could be different than the others, but the lab cannot be preformed solo. When it comes to improving the lab, there aren’t to many ways to ensure accurate measurements due to the fact that in any experiment there are human and environment variables that cannot be accounted for, or even prepared for. In any experiment there will always be human error.…
