The overview of the process:

QUESTION 1

If we make a table, we can see that the minimum time to fill a rush order is 26 minutes.

ACTIVITY RESOURCE TIME START TIME FINISH TIME
Order Entry E-mail 0 minutes 00:00 00:00
Wash Bowl, Mix Self 6 minutes 00:00 00:06
Fill Tray Self 2 minutes 00:06 00:08
Start Oven Roommate 1 minute 00:08 00:09
Baking Oven 9 minutes 00:09 00:18
Remove Roommate 0 minutes 00:18 00:18
Cool None 5 minutes 00:18 00:23
Pack & Collect Money Roommate 3 minutes 00:23 00:26

QUESTION 2

It doesn 't take twice as long to produce two batches as it does to produce one batch, because we can start mixing the second batch without having to wait for the whole first-batch process to be completed (we can start washing out the bowl as soon as we finish filling the tray).

Plus, for the second order, we have to wait 2 minutes to finish baking process of the first order for using the owen again.
It is possible to produce two batches in 36 minutes. This shows that it takes an additional 10 minutes for each extra dozen (Similarly it takes 46 minutes to produce 3 dozen). In 4 hours per night, it is possible to produce 22 dozen of cookies.

To determine how many orders can be filled in a four-hour night, first we get capacity. Capacity is determined by the bottleneck resource. The bottleneck in this process is 1/8 or the time that a sandwich spends baking. To get the number of sandwiches they can make in four hours, we multiply 60 * 4 because there are 60 minutes in one hour. Since 60 * 4 = 240 we then multiply 240 * (1/8) = 30. Therefore they can make 30 sub sandwiches in a four-hour period.…

When analyzing the organizational feasibility, we should examine the cultural aspect of Cupcake Confections LLC. The location of the shop will be on or around the vicinity of Virginia Commonwealth University to better target young adults. For the makeup of the restaurant, we have decided to hire 6 staff members between the ages of 16-34 years; one being a full-time manager, one being a full-time supervisor, and the other four being part-time staff. While it is a positive to have one manager throughout the day so you don’t have to split the cost for two, that leads to a drawback of the Manager burning out throughout the day. To minimize the risk of this, we will have the manager only come in during the busier shifts of the day versus staying…

Charles See founded SEE'S Candies Inc. in 1921 in the city of Los Angeles, California. Charles See was a visionary who approached the confection business with a simple view. He decided that no image would better reflect the personality of this venture than that of his mother. Apart from using her recipes as a foundation, See knew that keeping things in the family was the only way to bring about the kind of product he desired. See along with his mother and his wife, Florence, opened the first See's Candies store on Western Avenue in Los Angeles in November of 1921. See's was able to grow steadily from that first shop in Los Angeles to twelve shops by the mid-1920's and thirty shops during the depression. By 1936, See's was able to expand to San Francisco. For generations See's famous old time candies are well known and loved throughout the West. If you were to visit a See's store, you would find a sparkling clean black and white shop where your candies would be packed to order as you made your candy selection. See's reputation for friendly old-fashioned service remains unrivaled. To produce the best possible boxed chocolates, See's acquired the choicest and finest grade raw ingredients from all over the world. No additives or preservatives are ever used in See's Candies, only fresh wholesome ingredients. A $300 million subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, See's Candies delivers over 100 varieties of fresh chocolates via its retail stores, corporate marketing programs, phone and mail orders, and the Internet. Headquartered in South San…
