Kathy's Story

Kathy’s Story I interviewed Kathy Aubin to find out one of her proudest moments. Kathy is forty-eight years old. She currently lives about three blocks away from my house. I have known her since I was nine years old. She is one of my mother’s good friends. One of her proudest moments was when she was ten years old. Kathy and her younger sister, Danni, were ice skating in their back yard pond on a typical winter day. Danni was struggling to stand up and Kathy came over to help her. The ice couldn’t support both of them and Danni fell through. Kathy fell to her knees and snatched her helpless sister clawing at the ice. She saved her younger sister Danni from drowning. “It was one of the most memorable moments Danni and I have ever shared”, Kathy said. They will remember it forever. Kathy had saved a life. It was a life that meant a lot to her. This moment was quite meaningful to Kathy. If she was not there, Danni would not be here today. Everyone was proud of her for saving her sisters life. Kathy feels that it is significant because she never saved a life before.
A few years after she saved her sister, she realized that she loved the remarkable feeling of saving someone’s life. Kathy decided she wanted to be a lifeguard for a part time job. She thought she could help others, just like she helped her sister.
Over the years, Kathy and her sister still have a close bond. Kathy says her sister still brings the story up till this day. They both will never forget that day. Kathy will always be known as a hero to her sister no matter how old they are. Danni is very thankful that Kathy was there that day to save her
